Australia is now the second largest market for our BetterThanDiamond products, and as such, we wanted to provide an overview of the total costs to purchase and import your order into Australia.
1) Shipping cost - the first and most obvious cost, the cost of shipping to Australia is added to your order.
2) Customs brokerage fees - UPS will charge you an additional amount (often $45) for doing all the paperwork to clear customs once your order arrives in Australia.
3) Possible duty and 10% GST on your order: Once your order is shipped and arrives in Australia, you may be required to pay for some additional fees and taxes, depending on the total value of your order. (Please note that this information was correct as of the publication date, but you should always check directly with Australian customs to confirm nothing has changed - the Australian customs page is here.)
Orders less than $1,000 AUD, are imported duty and tax free.
Note: However, where there are multiple packages to the same addressee in Australia from a single shipper overseas that arrive at about the same time, then the value of all packages will be combined for duty and tax assessment purposes. I.e. it will not do any good to order the stone loose as one package, and the ring with no center as another in order to keep the items under the $1,000 AUD limit...customs will total them together.
For orders over $1,000 AUD - you will pay GST of 10% on your order. Additionally, you may or may not be charged with a duty fee as well. Duty is based on the classification of the goods within the Customs Tariff Act 1985.
We have generally found that orders from BetterThanDiamond to Aussie are averaging 5-6 business days to arrive at your door.
