there are bunches of vendors where you can get sterling silver settings, with pre-notched prongs, that you can set the stones yourself with just a pair of pliers (or the SnapTite type where you don't need tools at all)
JTV tends to have settings of both types - plus gold ones that a jeweler would need to set for you.

and http://stores.ebay.com/LiebCor has silver settings that they'll pre-notch for you so you can set them yourself if you're feeling brave, or if you send the stones they'll do it for you (for $4-ish?), and they also have 10kt gold (and 14k) settings that they'll set your stones into.
