i just double the price of whatever i'm looking at, to convert from GBP£ to USD$, when browsing overseas webpages.

the actual currency conversion changes from day to day, but doing it this way gives me a rough idea of what i'm spending. and then when i add in shipping, if i add it into my running total as if it was USD$ without doubling it... it's usually pretty accurate.
