The higher the oil concentration determines just how long it lasts on the skin.
Thanks for the cool info, Kimie! I guess I could've looked it up, but that would have entailed some candle-power in my li'l haid. That's in short supply these days. LOL!
I always use excellent moisturizer, so maybe I just need to move into the perfume/parfum with L. Hmmmmm. Something to think about. Bit of a bummer, as the EDP is not so expensive as the perfume.
Or maybe my nose is just not sensitive to it? I'd put EDP on my wrists, temples and forearm/inner elbows, and could smell the fragrance in the night on my pillow. So it's obviously still there...
I recall my nose going this way with Eternity. I managed to score some before it was being sold locally where I lived at the time. I just loooooooooved Eternity. Then later, I could hardly smell it on myself, even though I layered it w/bath lotion, skin lotion and EDP. I'm sure I nearly skunked others out with great wafts of Eternity. LOL!

I did the rounds at the mall looking for "the hippy-dirt-rose-picker's fragrance" and Nords is the only one that has it but they still don't have a tester. The woman told me that I could return it if I don't like it, but she was just so nice I felt bad so I said I'd give it another week. I consoled myself with Bvulgari Rose instead. Too bad it's soooooo much more than the Angel Rose, I smells fantastic!!
LOL! swimmie, you're such a dear!
I just got to smell hippy-dirt-rose-picker this morning. In fact, I have some on my hand as I write -- and some Peony, and some Lily (Le Lys). Sheesh! So the Lily, which I loved immediately and bought, I still love. LOL!
The Peony (Pivoire), surprisingly, I also like! When I tried it on last time, I didn't love it at all. The Peony is stronger and has an almost astringent tone to it. It's sharper/harder. But I do like it! It'd be excellent for when I'm feeling a bit edgy. Hah! Like that will happen...
"La Rose" is very soft and subtle; it doesn't smell like rose(s) to me. But I do like it much better than Bvlgari Rose, which smelled really not-great on me. The Rose is not as powdery as Violet (Violette) and is softer, fainter smelling. The fragrance gal gave it a good splash, too. LOL! Next week is their launch, so I'll go back and see whether I like it any better. Really, I do have enough fragrance now. I do. Honestly. Truly. Enough. Plenty.

Sounds like you had fun today dear! Tonight on the way to dinner, DH decided he absolutely LOVES the Fresh Pink Jasmine I'm wearing....the same one I've been wearing on and off for weeks! Pfft! Do their noses only work on certainly days of the week? I used to always go to Filene's to smell new scents, but now there's no more Filene's. I'm going to have to find someplace new to smell the La Rose at! I'm still loving the violet, but think I like the lily better! I'm not very big on the peony though. Enough fragrance Gai??? Naaaaaaaaah, never!!!

Just got some Roger&Gallet Vetyver cologne at the duty free shop in San Juan [$24]. It starts citrusy and ends floraly. Soooo cool! Reminds me of being at my grandma's in Italy [amazing how scents bring back memories]. Great light scent for the spring/summer. I've even been spritzing it on the sheets! Now I need to get some soap of the same scent . . .

Oooh, I forgot you were traveling for business BD (I have a very short memory)! Duty free is a wonderful thing!!! That sounds like a wonderful scent for spring/summer! It's truly amazing how certain scents just toss you back in time, in the blink of an eye!

It may just be that your nose acclimates to it and can't smell it. I've found that on several that I thought didn't last on me, it's not the scent it's me.
Ya know, I just HATE when this happens!!! This is what's been occurring w/me and L. Ugh. Mind, when someone else smells it, they have to be at point-blank range and sniffing exactly on my wrist where I sprayed it. It's not like I'm wafting huge clouds of fragrance. Dang it.
swimmie, all the Angel line lasts forever on my skin. I'm thinking that it's got to do w/physical chemistry -- the hormones, level of oils in the skin, etc.
I make sure to use a liberal amount of good moisturizer before applying L. Sometimes it lasts, sometimes it doesn't. I got frustrated with L fading, so I just went nutty and bought the parfum! Yesterday, when I applied it, it lasted all through the night, even. I was having dreams about people sniffing my wrist and saying how much they loved this scent. ROTF!!!
Today, I did the same procedure and it's very faint on me. Weird, weird, weird. Oh! I just smelled my wrist and I can smell it again. Just a couple hours ago, it seemed very, very faint. ACK!
On another note, Angel Rose faded away to almost nothing on me... Guess I won't be getting that one.
I vaguely recall someone telling me that different fragrances/ingredients "perform" better on certain skin types. Like light, floral scents last better on fair skinned people, and heavier fragrances are better on darker complexions. Supposedly it's due to the different type of ingredients, and how the skin reacts/absorbs the scent/ingredients.
Back to the laboratory...
