I really, really, really hate trying on swimsuits. I hated it before I gained a bit of weight but now I really, really, really hate it. My body shape has changed quite a bit since the last time I had to wear a suit and my old one no longer fits me. It's too bad too because I had it custom made. See, I even had a problem when I was skinnier.

My problem is that I am petiete (5'1"), have broad shoulders/chest and now thanks to the baby, I have boobs too. My tummy is still flabby from babytime so I don't really have a waist anymore so I need to hide or suck it in. I have fat on my back so certain cuts don't flatter me there either.

I bought a suit from Eddie Bauer since other suits that were similar almost fit me. They were just a little too long and a little too small in the bust. So, I bought once size smaller and in a D cup BUT it doesn't fit like I hoped it would. It's really cute but the straps are way too long and the fit is still too long through the body.

So, does anyone have any ideas where to find a similar suit but in petite sizes with larger busts? I shopped in Feb which really is too early so I had to go online but it really hasn't worked out so far and I am running out of time!

what about landsend, or LLbean? they usually sell petite sizes, but I dont know if they do in swimsuits

maybe you could buy separte top and bottom, like a tankini and pair it with bottoms that fit?

this site carries some DD cups. http://www.venusswimwear.com/default.aspx

this site has some D's. carabella

and one more, they carry tons of different bras sizes, and it appears they carry swimwear as well figleaves swimwear

it has a neat little finder to help you look for what you want. i think you'd really have better luck going the 2 piece route. i know for me, thats what i would do (buy a tankini and skirt or shorts) that way i could cover as much as possible, i dont like to show to much skin i am almost 5'3, so i can relate to the difficulty in finding something that works.

Thanks Keeter!

I should have clarified that I am looking to walk into a store to try things on. I need to go back to the mall some weekend and go to all the department stores since it has been a few months and maybe the selection has improved?

I spent a lot of time on Land's End today with their virtual model tool and it's pretty neat but not all suits are viewable there. I did find one suit that I liked there but I don't know if it will fit me since my measurements are all over the place: 16/18 bust & waist, 10/12 hips & torso. It might be worth a try however...

Oh and nothing appeals to me at Venus and Carabella doesn't look promising. They don't show the backs of their suits! I should also say that I am looking for a one-piece that looks like a two piece. I have yet to find a tankini that looks flattering on me. Most are too short or don't hold my tummy in enough. I do like the flexability in sizing and colors though!

I can recommend ORVIS and Lands End....you also might try to get a shorter torso-they are making suits now that are petite....I wish you luck as I HATE to shop for bathing suits....I have a 3 of Esther Williams that are to die for and are very flattering and comfortable....and I also own some from Victorias Secret...

It's a "Fauxkini" where it is a one-piece but looks like it's two. It is very cute -- but only if it fit!!!

oh! ok i was thinking eddie B is an online store, so that's why i went that way with it. i cant think of any actual bricks and mortar store. maybe macys or nordstroms? they have a big petite section in both places.

Keeter -- Heh, EB is both online and BnM but there is a LOT more selection online. I can go into the stores and try stuff on but they don't carry petites nor swimwear. ARGH. If I have time next weekend, I will try Macy's (lots of suits but mostly two pieces) and Nordy's (small selection and expensive).

Wench -- I didn't find anything at Orvis. They seem to have a lot of keyhole backs which I cannot wear. They aren't flattering at all. See the above suit I found at Land's End. I will check out Norm Thompson -- that is a new one for me.
