maybe a stupid question but....

What are the differences between swarovski crystals and cubic zirconia?

Visually, is one more "sparklie" than the other?
I'm talking small sizes, like 1-3mm rounds...

thanks for your thoughts!

leaded crystal versus cz, no contest. CZ every time

It depends on how the stones are being used. In my pieces, it doesn't make much of a difference if I use a 4mm Swarovski or a 4mm CZ....

lol!

I was just looking at watches with small stones around the face (pave style) and I was wondering if swarovski crystals would be "sparklier" than CZ.

Yes, I am a sparklie freak.

The thing I like about the crystals is that most of the ones I've seen have a sort of aurora borealis thing happening. Which is really cool! And they come in all kinds of fancy colors.

But as far as actual sparkle goes, I'm guessing the cz probably gives you more than the crystal would.

oh yes!
I love that.
I do prefer fire over brillance.
Brillance catches my attention, fire draws me in.

Only draw back though is that the crystals are not near as hard as a CZ, and in a watch...it could quickly get cloudy. Just an FYI for ya anyway. Unfortunately, I speak from experience. If you are gentle on your watches, you shouldn't have too much problem with them getting scratched. I work with my hands a lot, and so I tend to put more wear on my watches.
