Thank you! I bought it after seeing pics of yours, and then stumbling (could it be FATE!!??) onto smarie's for sale listing. So technically, I could blame this new obsession all on you, and I think I may!

I just noticed that you live in San Francisco- I had the head lowered at the Goldsmith Gallery in Los Gatos, about 50 miles south of SF-if you're ever down there pop in, they do excellent work.

Oooh, you're right, it's a little over 50 miles and would take me 1 hour to get there.

I'll be visiting my parents before I go on my trip (they live south also) and maybe I can stop in. How long did it take them to do it, and what did they charge? I am currently having a custom setting made for it, but if it falls through I can have this done instead.

It only took a few days. I was warned that they were very backed up, they do a lot of custom work. As a matter of fact that's how I found them. My husband bought a sapphire from Thailand and we had a ring made by them. I don't know the exact cost- I had a ring made for my sister at the same time, and it was all bundled into one charge. But I would imagine it would be reasonable. Their number is (408) 395-5342. I encountered zero "sim snobbery" from them. The guy who runs the front of the house is named Richard Wheeler, and Jeffrey Howard does most of the bench work.

Aren't you clever with the pictures! How did you do that? I couldn't figure out how to make the file size smaller so that it would attach.

I tried to use the properties from your web album, and the pictures would show up in the preview, but then became little red X's in the actual post.

So, I just saved them to my computer, uploaded them onto my webalbum and then used those properties--and it worked

I didn't try attaching them, so I didn't run into the problem of them being too large. If you have a photo editing software in your computer, you could make them smaller for attaching.

Man, you people who fiddle with things on computers confound me! In any case, thank you. Makes is easier to have everything all in one place.

Is this your daily wedding set? Or do you wear another set daily & this for special occasions?

I've been alternating this set and the band with an heirloom ring, a .50 carat round brilliant with baguettes. An incredibly sparkly stone, G VVS1, with strong fluoresence, so it looks like a D most of the time. But I don't really care for rounds. I have a picture of a ring that I considered my dream ring, cut out of a magazine when I was in the 7th grade- and it's an Asscher. I like the step cuts more than the crushed ice look. I work as a nanny and go to school, and use my hands a lot, so for everyday the 3 carat is just a skosh large.
