Debs, that's great! I decided to buy the elliptical for the same reason, so I would have no excuse not to exercise. In fact, as much money as I spent on the darn thing I could have gotten a nice new something sparklie! So I plan on getting my money's worth out of it. Right now I feel like it beat the crud out of me though. I woke up this morning and my legs were so sore I could barely get out of bed. I've been waddling around all day in serious pain. Yesterday was the first time I've gotten any real exercise in years so I'm not surprised, but I am taking today off to let my muscles recuperate and I will shoot for 30 minutes tomorrow.

i actually bought a great stretching DVD. it's 40 mins of stretching (10 standing and 30 on the floor), and it makes you feel like butter afterwards. i love it! \:\)

it's Pure and Simple Stretch by Karen Voight

I'm so proud of myself! Instead of eating candy and chips for my mid-morning and afternoon snacks today, I ate a banana and an orange. It's a small step, but it's significant for me.

The tragedy is that I actually like healthy food better than the unhealthy stuff, but I am a total convenience eater. I plan to go to the store tonight and buy some healthy staples.

I was thinking about joining Weight Watchers too, actually, with my mom. But our work schedules are so weird that it would be hard to negotiate which meetings to go to (and where).

For those of you who have done WW, are you supposed to go to the same meeting all the time, or can you change? Do you feel like WW taught you a lot about nutrition and eating for life? Finally, do you think the program could be easily modified for vegetarians?

I did WW before I had my son, and I am pretty much a vegetarian. There are plenty of choices!

I can totally relate with the convenience eating! I tend to just stock up on prepackaged foods that are probably really bad for me. One of my biggest obstacles right now is figuring out what I can make for dinner that hubby and the kids will eat but is healthy. I want to cut back on carbs, but dinners usually include pasta or potatoes or rice. It's so hard to make mashed potatoes and gravy for the rest of the family and not eat any!

Well...I know potatoes can't be substituted, but what about whole wheat pasta and brown rice? Wouldn't that help?

DH and I drink fat-free milk and eat frozen yogurt instead of ice cream and it's helped a lot!
