Hi everyone!

Well I just ordered my first Asha Cushion, it's a 6.5mm. The stone itself looks beautiful, but I'm a little concerned about the "diamond coating or infusion" it has.

I was under the assumption that the Asha would hold up like a diamond under a few tests (that standard CZ's would fail). Like the water droplet test and the "breath test" where you breathe on it and the fog disepates quickly if its real. I tried both these tests and the Asha failed compared to my 0.5ct diamond.

Is it supposed to pass those tests? I'm just worried about the durability of it. Otherwise it is stunningly beautiful. Hard to compare a loose stone to a set stone though.

Any insight would be wonderful.

Thanks!! \:\)

hmmm....some of the more knowledgeable ladies can correct me if i am wrong but it had been said many times before that the asha will not pass the diamond detector test. so i will assume it will not pass the "home" test you just describe. well as for durability i can't answer you on that one since my asha is brand new. but there has been a few topic discussions on the forum regarding this subject. some have their asha for many years and use their ering on a daily basis. the asha still holds up beautifully and still sparkle like crazy. no clouding whatever so. like a diamond if you hit it at the right spot it will crack and chip on you. so base on my personal assumption, if you take really well of your jewelry, then the asha will hold up for a long time to come.

I believe that those tests are recommended if you are trying to distinguish a diamond from a cz...I wouldn't expect them to work on an Asha...

How do you like the stone otherwise?

PS They look even BETTER after they are set!!!! ;\)

Thanks DarlingMom! ;\)

So they "aren't" supposed to pass those tests then? I just thought they were to prove that they had the diamond coating on them? I guess I was confused.

See my problem is, I've never held a loose diamond in my hand so I don't know how to compare the two. I would love to see one set. \:\) The Asha definitely sparkles more and looks brighter than my diamond (I feel like my diamond gets dull and dirty really quickly).

I really do like the stone. I hope my fiance approves (i'll be showing it to him tonight) so I can keep it. ;\)

I'll keep you posted!

Thanks again \:\)

Sorry ladies (I didn't see your responses at first, only DarlingMoms). Thanks for the input as well. I take very good care of my jewelry, at least for now. I'm not married yet and don't have kids so whos knows by then! ;\)

As far as it being clean, it was clean but I'm sure I touched it a bit with my fingers. Don't know if that will make a difference or not.

Hey Lovebebe,

Sorry I didn't get a chance to repond to your PM- I've been crazy busy lately. Well I really do LOVE the Cushion Asha I got, but I had a "talk" w/ my fiance (and he with his mother) about all of this & I'm having second thoughts. \:\( I just feel bad and I know it would make my fiance happy if I stick with the 0.5ct diamond I currently have.

If I choose to go that route, I'm REALLY interested in the Vatche Princess Grace setting. I love it. Hopefully I can order something soon but I want a ring on my finger that feels like MINE. \:\)

Are you ordering the BTW Halo setting??? Oooh, I wish I could see that before I decide. Good luck! ;\)

Thanks again for all your support...you've been such a sweetheart (same to all the ladies here).

mount the 0.50ct into a princess grace and mount your asha cushion either into a pendant or make it a killer RHR ;\) best of both worlds!

since you do get to pick out the setting for yourself...it will feel more personal, something that belongs to you rather than in the back of your mind the nagging feeling of "oh it's my FMIL ering". besides this will make your fiance happy as well. it'll be a win win situation. later on, you can alway upgrade the diamond to a size you want ;\) ;\) so is the cushion going back or you might keep it for fun project???

as for me..i did order the halo setting from BTD with a 1ct RB asha . when i do see it in person and i totally love it..that will be the setting my upgrade diamond will find home in. as for my cushion asha..i already picked out a setting and it's being set as we speak. hopefully i will get it back by the end of this week or next. haha that's what i was hinting. either way i can't wait to see your final decision. make sure you take lot of pictures.
