Can I join? I am very small like bling... but I have put on 10 lbs since high school (that was only 4 years ago) and since Im so short and small built (remember size 4.5 fingers) it really looks awful on me... I have really been beating myself up about it. I was not super active in high school but I did do tumbling/cheerleading once or twice a week. Now I am trying to go to the gym but its not really helping- I just have lumpy (even cellulite on my stomach) fat on top of defined muscle... I guess Im going to have to attack my diet now, sigh. But DH doesnt understand- he just gets upset when I wine about how I look \:\(

The first thing is to not beat yourself up sarah, or any one of you ladies, for that matter!! Men will never understand our struggles with weight and body image. The best key to success to weight loss and keeping it off is a combination of diet and exercise. Don't give up on your gym workouts, you might need to adjust your workout routine, or up your time or something very easily attainable. Your muscles do have memory, so have faith and most importantly have fun with your workouts and remember you are doing what is good for yourself, by exercising and eating well.

I need to join, too. Like you, Sarah, I have a small frame (same ring size and 5'2"), and I've gained about 25 lbs since college (that was quite some time ago - and I was a size 0 then - those were the days). Yeah, it doesn't look good when you are short and have small bones. The fat has no where to spread! Lol

Anyway, I am trying to lose about 10 lbs (110 would be my ideal). I need to get back to exercising (since I LOVE to eat good food). I was running 3-5 miles 4-5 times a week, but I've totally slacked since last August (had a midlife crisis, quit my job, and started law school full time), and have been eating fattening, yummy foods to top it off.

Okay, finals are over in a week - back to running and eating healthy foods! Need some motivation! \:D And, you're right, men don't understand!

I have a question I am sure one of my sparkle sisters can help with... I have loosing weight the slow and hard way. BUT should I keep working out even when I get sick? Latley I use it as an excuss that I should skip when I am sick? Thoughts?

No, you should rest when you are sick - that's what my physical therapist friend tells me. Working out may make you get worse.

we're about the same size!! i'm 5' 1/2" tall and wore a size 0 in high school. then i started gaining a few pounds in college at first, and now i'm up to a size 4/6. ;1 trying to get back to a 2 or 4 would be nice.

Bling! You're just like me! Yep, I wear a 4 or 6, but I am striving to get back down to a 2! I do sometimes do the quick weight loss thing - 7-8 lbs in 2-3 weeks. I know that's bad for you, but when I get an idea in my head, I'm impatient - I want it now!!! LOL. That causes injuries, though - my body is getting old. I had a strained or torn pelvic ligament a couple years ago from doing too much at the start - very BAD - I couldn't run for 5 months waiting for it heal.

Two weeks and I'm starting my new diet/exercise program! Ugh... starting to run outdoors again in the middle of a Florida summer... why do I always do that??? Anyone wanna join me? \:D

Definitely do not work out when you are sick. Your body is busy fighting off whatever you have and is telling you to rest. Listen to your body.

Not me!!!! Just the thought of it makes me feel like I'm going to pass out! I like my elliptical, because it's inside where the air conditioning is! ;1

All this talk of LOW single digit sizes is depressing for me as I've only once been a size 8 and that was in a designer skirt that was probably incorrectly labelled .

I'm sllooowwwlllyyy working my way back to regular sized clothing, but barring a North American famine or a diastrous disease will not likely get smaller than a 12 or maybe, if I'm really lucky, a 10.

I'm sure you ladies realize that if you're a 00 or even a 0, you don't exist. Last Christmas, I renewed acquaintance with our SIL's niece who last year was a size 4 and obviously present, but this year is a size 0 and definitely hard to find in a crowded room She says she feels great and since she's beyond parental control, finishing her second year at university, will darn well do as she pleases. So there!

Mucho scary!!
