I love that!! It's so true. I joined weight watchers today. Right now, my goal is to get back into my "fat" clothes!!

I love that eat naked in front of a mirror, it'd sure work for me.
I was thinking the other day that if I add a few or so pounds, I'll weigh what I did when I was delivering my daughter! Between middle age spread, moving to Texas where no food is good food unless its fried and my job where the only exercise I get consists of keyboard typing, I've put on 20 pounds in the past year and half. My husband has too! Maybe I should join weight watchers too.

I've gained 30 pounds in the last 3 years, when I weighed in yesterday I was the same weight as when I delivered my daughter almost 7 years ago! How did this happen??? I ran a marathon 3 years ago and hurt my knee pretty bad. I haven't been able to run or bike since and I've put on 10 pounds a year for three years.

I could stand to lose about 5 more pounds (have lost 5!) but am more interested in an efficient (read not too much time spent at it) way to gain fitness.

Does anyone go to Curves? How is it? Does it work okay?

I have one girlfriend here who goes. She loves it and has lost a lot of weight/gained a lot of fitness. Just wondering how you gals find it? I always like more than one viewpoint.

I decided to change over from actually counting calories to counting points. Easier to do in your head, for one, and keep track of, etc.

I got a little book and a point calculator from my mother, who in turn got it from coworkers. I don't want to officially join because I only need to lose 6-7 lbs and some ladies I work with said "the women who truly need to lose weight will chase you out of there." Plus if I can get away with not paying a monthly fee that is okay with me too!

So I have a question, how much do you have to exercise in order to subtract points??

It's amazing how little food one TRULY needs to eat in a day, compared to what you WANT to eat!

I'm halfway through my second week, and down at least 5 lbs (YAY!!!). They don't start you on exercise until week three because it's been proven that if you start a diet and exercise program at the same time, if you give up on one, you will give up on the other. I should get the book that explains how many points you can subtract for exercise when I go back on Weds.

Everyone seems really nice at the meetings I go to. There's people there who need to loose a lot, and some who have much smaller goals. Probably a half dozen of them are at their goal weight and there for maintenance. I wouldn't worry about people chasing you off. But not paying the weekly fee is a good thing!!

I need the accountability of having to get weighed each week though. My life is so upside down right now, it would be too easy to give up if I didn't have to go and get weighed on Wednesday.

I just finished dinner and still have 8 pts left today, woohoo. There's a glass of wine calling my name! Heck, with that many points, make it two!!

Good luck losing 6 lbs, I'll be sure to let you know about the exercise "bonus" points on Wednesday.

Thank you, and good luck with your weight loss!

I need to develop better habits, otherwise I will be struggling with this the rest of my life! I think this is a good, realistic plan.

Cricketgirl, about Curves. I know a lot of people who really like it, but one thing to keep in mind is that if you just do the 20 min. circuit, you don't really get enough cardio. It's a good idea to do extra cardio before or after. I'm pretty sure that Curves has plenty of bikes, elipticals and treadmills to use for that. There's one next door to my daughter's dance studio, and I've peeked in a few times. Good luck!
