A rice cooker is the ONLY way I can make decent rice.... but then I don't cook anymore (DH does all of the cooking and I almost never eat rice or pasta).... I was lousy when I did cook. I eat all my meals alone five days a week, so they are always really simple.... I don't eat hardly anything that is packaged or prepared (except for Tasty Bites) so I will have a piece of broiled meat, a veggie or leftovers (at the beginning of the week) from whatever DH made on the weekend. BORING!!!!!!!!!!!!

That's more than I eat. I eat frozen or pre-cooked. Take out on weekends. I do have a SIL who cooks EVERYTHING from scratch. Nothing is ever out of a box. ::sighs:: She works full time too, sometimes doesn't get home til late and still finds time to cook. She said what she does is on Sundays she cooks a few dishes and then freezes them so they have food for the week.

I don't really like veggies much, but I know I should eat them.... so I try to eat some each day..... some evenings dinner is just a handful of nuts, a piece of cheese and raw celery or cauliflower..... you'd think I'd be slender like you..... used to be..... but no more! I eat LESS than I used to, but time marches on as they say. I like the winter cause DH will make a huge crock pot something on the weekends and then I can eat on that for the first few days of the week... I just have to remind him that I don't like everything to be three alarm fire hot....spicy yes...... remove the skin from your tongue... no...

I LOVE Indian and Thai food.....wish I knew how to cook those............... I think the Tasty bites that I eat are supposed to be eaten on rice, but I almost never do - that's what I had last night - A Tasty Bite Lentil something and a piece of bread.

Me neither on the veggies, I know I should too. Again, canned LOL. I should at least order food. That's not pre-cooked. Either that or do like your DH does. Get a crockpot. My sister and I are both thinking about doing that. Our only issue with that is leaving it on all day while we aren't home. Even though that's the main purpose of it. So it cooks all day when you aren't home. \:D

The only veggies I can stand are fresh or some frozen (like TJ's). I steam them on the stove (I also don't cook hardly anything in microwave). I grew up on canned veggies and now I never eat canned ones..... The only fresh greens I think I ate when I was growing up was lettuce (which I didn't like) and that was iceberg!

I like fresh spinach salads and eat a lot of those, sometimes with chicken or salmon, but I don't like any salads without lots of dressing (which is horribly fattening) so I am defeating the whole "good for you" thing. I have become a real stickler for what's in things that are packaged or bottled, so fresh and simple seems to work best for me.

well, you're not necessarily defeating all of the "good for you" when you eat fresh spinach ... you're doing a lot for your body other than being a non-fattening food - leafy greens are good for you for so many reasons *^_^*

fresh and simple IS best

yesterday i fell asleep before my husband picked up our son and then i woke up at around 8:30 pm ... went back to bed at 9:30 and woke up this morning at 7 ... my husband was "mommy" last night, but he loved it - he doesn't get a lot of one-on-one time with our son ... anyway - he did the cooking

but then i got up and cooked something for me, because i was starving and my husband ate most of it ... go figure
