I thought you Ladies might be interested in seeing my gem collection. This was something my mother put together, and when she passed in 2001 it came to me. I love some of these stones, and I'm often so tempted to have them mounted. That #20 blue topaz would look so awesome in a pearl enhancer!!

As I'm sure you gem lovers are aware, pics never do these stones justice.......

1. Emerald cut pyrope garnet 9.76 x 8.94mm (5.52ct)
2. Emerald cut cognac tourmaline 8.43 x 7.90mm (2.88ct)
3. Rectangular step blue-green tourmaline 14.20 x 6.20mm (4.06ct)
4. Rectangular Emerald cut “eau de nile” green tourmaline 7.20 x 5.90mm (1.25ct)
5. Rectangular step cut pink tourmaline 7.52 x 5.5mm (1.38ct)
6. Oval mixed cut intense green tourmaline 11.5 x 7.99mm (3.12ct)
7. Rectangular baguette cut natural Zambian emerald 4.88 x 3.5mm (.36ct)
8. Rectangular step cut intense green tourmaline 9.13 x 5.83mm (2.32ct)
9. Oval mixed cut cognac tourmaline 10.78 x 8.72mm (3.30ct)
10. Fancy cut light citrine 14.18mm (12.55ct)
11. Rectangular step cut light sherry Brazilian topaz 12.22 x 5.22mm (2.82ct)

13. Oval mixed cut cognac tourmaline12.60 x 10.88mm (6.29ct)
14. Round mixed cut cinnamon tourmaline 8.36 x 5.62mm (2.22ct)
15. Rectangular step cut brownish green tourmaline 12.52 x 9.31mm (6.10ct)
16. Rectangular step cut intense green tourmaline 7.71 x 6.57mm (2.04ct)
17. Square step cut light cinnamon tinted tourmaline 9.0 x 8.84mm (3.90ct)
18. Rectangular Emerald cut intense blue green tourmaline 17.47 x 7.7mm (6.30ct)
19. Pendalogue mixed cut natural Zambian emerald 8.52 x 6.73mm (1.68ct)
20. Pendalogue mogul cut blue topaz 22.42 x 12.73mm (17.35ct)
21. & 22. Round mixed cut natural Burmese ruby (.22ct)
23 & 24. Round mixed cut peacock blue zircon (.45ct)

The citrine is gorgeous, and I wish I could take a pic that would showcase it's exceptional cut and color. It does look just like looking down into a dahlia.........

Your collection is fabulous. Your mom loved tourmalines and she had really great taste. The Round mixed cut cinnamon tourmaline is really pretty and unusual. I like that one the best.

wow, your collection is gorgeous! I really like the emerald pink tourmaline (26) and 19 (Zambian emerald). How many years did it take for you to amass this lovely collection?

Thank you blushfiend! The gems belonged to my Mother. I believe she started collecting them in the early '80s. In 2001 she passed and they came to me.

So many times I have considered having one mounted, but haven't been able to bring myself to do it. Weird, huh?!?!

That's the one I'm always so tempted to put in a ring. It a little deep though, so it would stand up pretty high, but I often thought a nice antique mounting would look good.

Maybe, one day...... ;\)

No I understand wanting to keep them as your Mom had them.

They are beautiful! I really like 10, 13 and 23 and 24! How wonderful that your Mom had the sparklie bug too!

like what Mrs W said, you probably just want to keep it the way your mom left them. besides, if you start mounting one, you might have a LOT of projects on your hands...not that anyone on this board will mind! ;\)
