Weight watchers offers a simple way to keep track of your calories, fiber and fat grams with their point system. It promotes healty, well balanced eating habits but doesn't forbid any foods. It's all about moderation and making informed food choices. It's geared more towards being a lifestyle change than a "diet." I've really been happy with the program and the results I've seen from it. Exercise is an important part of the weight watchers plan.

Amethysete, is there a WW meeting location near you? I'm sure you could go in a buy a few of the books with info about points and the core plan. Their food companions have lists of all the core foods and well as points for just about anything you can imagine. I'll try to get a list of the core foods typed up for you in the next day or two. I'm happy to answer any specific questions you have. You can PM if you'd like. Good luck!

PM me your address, Ame, and I will send you my last program material.
I can send you the whole cycle of booklets.
I have a set of the special books too.
But they are heavy, the companion books.

WW would charge you over $100 for the cycle of materials and stuff.
I will send you the whole bunch if you pay the postage.
It's about $10 and if there is extra cost, well, it's on me.
I can include samples of the smoothie mix and bars too.
You can't buy them anywhere but meetings.

I am down 44 pounds now.
This week meeting was unexpectedly cancelled.

Keep up the good work, all you guys.

BTW, I recommend staarting with the points program and not the new core program.

You could get yourself in trouble trying the core program before you understand the points.

Wow I just saw this and I NEVER thought by looking at your pics that you would be looking into WW?

Your pics look great!
Best wishes for you on whatever you are working on regardless!

This is from left field, but I did the Body For Life program and got great results. I lost body fat and gained muscle and had a pretty variable diet. It still focuses on the higher protein intake and less carbs but I really saw great results. What I liked the most was as I lost everything got tighter and firmer and more shapely instead of losing and then saying okay, now what do I do with me now? I also asked my nutrition teacher about this and this was the only one she recommended as far as Fad Diets. I did not ask her about WW though so that was not included in her opinion. You can look at their website at Body For Life

Hope this helps.

THanks all for your input!!!

Pookie,
I would really appreciate you sending me the stuff. I can really use it. In 1 1/2 week, I lost 5 pounds! I am doing the points and let me tellyou that the fist 2 days were hard. I was starving. I guess my body was getting used to lowering the amount of calories I inaled daily.

I know I don't "look" like I need to loose weight. but 3 1/2 years ago I was over 200 pounds and my health wasn't really good: High cholesterol and blood pressure. I lost a total of 65 pounds by cuting in 1/2 what I was eating and go for a 40 min walk everyday. In no time I shedded that extra weight. But the last 10-20 pounds always go off slow and I knew that I was eating too much to loose it. My thing is I HATE exercising - I have an elliptical machine at home, but I cannot go on walks anymore b.c in my town we live on a busy state route and there is no sidewalks. I don't like to exercise at home... It's boring! I try to do it 3-4 times a week though for about 30 mins. I am trying to be a good girl!

If I lost the remaining 20 pounds, I would be about 124lbs and it would be my ideal weight. I lost 5 pounds already - making me to 139! I am excited b/c te program work. I do not go to the 20 points. I can see that I am satisfied at 17 points a day... I don't force myself to not eat 20 pts but if I am not hungry, I then think my body doesn't need them...

Tessa, I wanted to congratulate you on your weight loss! THat is some HUGE acheievement!
What is we start a weekly weight-in? Just to motivate?

Congratulations on a very successful week, Amethyste!! I was so hungry the first few days too, I'm glad that passed for you too! It looks like pookarina has more info to offer you than I do, I'm so sorry I didn't get the info posted for you last week. It's been so nuts here, I've barely had a minute to myself. Good luck with WW, let me know how you like core if you try it. I'm afraid to.

I get weighed tomorrow, this is the first week I've acually used all of my flex points, but I did workout quite a bit and didn't add in my bonus points for exercise. Hopefully I did okay. I'm so afraid I'll have gained and won't get to wear my beautiful ring this week. But if that happens, so be it. There's always next week!

I think a weekly weigh in here is a great idea! As of last Wednesday I was down 12.8 pounds. When I first joined I thought I'd be happy if I lost the 30 lbs I'be gained over the last 3 years, but now I realize I need to lose the full 55 required to get me to my ideal weight. It's going to be a long road, but I know I can get there.

I just joined South Beach on line. I will let you know what I think of the program...I want to drop 7-8 lbs, 4 of which I gained on my honeymoon last week and 4 of which are the result of Prednisone. I am going to start on Monday. I did WW (130 to 107) and Atkins (111 to 107). I tend to fluxuate quite a bit because I love to eat!!!

Now DON'T laugh . I am such a huge advocate for what I'm about to say, that I will prove to ANYONE that you TOO can have the same results IF you put your mind to it. Two words: RICHARD SIMMONS. Twelve years ago I was 160lbs. and was going to a Christmas party and couldn't fit into my size 16 stretch waistband pants. THAT was my breaking point. I resolved myself that I was too young to look like that and feel that bad (physically). So, with eating properly (important) and exercising daily (important) and walking every night for 1/2 an hour (gave me a great reason to look at all my neighbors homes! lol), I lost 50lbs. and today I wear a size 4. No seesaw effect either. It's been 12 years and I'm still a size 4. All of this, not to mention he is a wonderful motivator! And I quote: "I am like a canvas, and the brush is in my hands. Like the greatest of artists, I am going to create a brand new me."
