CIBJO, a European jewelry council, finally decided to catch up with the modern world and allow "lab grown diamond" to be an acceptable term for ... lab grown diamonds.

Previously they had demanded that all lab grown diamonds be labelled 'synthetic' and prior to that (say 2002 or so) I got a letter from them about our Takara lab grown diamonds demanding that we label them as "artificial diamonds" (nice). We did not agree to their demands then since artificial was not an accurate description for real diamond.

Anyway, glad to see they are joining the modern times.

This will not have any impact on lab grown whites. While numberous 'conspiracy' type rumours are out there, the fact is that lab grown whites are blocked solely due to technical growing issues, nothing else.

I think it will help make things clearer for consumers in Europe (since lab grown diamond is much clearer statement of what it is vs 'artificial' or 'synthetic', so it may have a minor improvement).

However, we don't sell that much to Europe vs. say North America and Australia/Hong Kong.
