Hello everyone- it's been a while since we have had a low carb thread. I have been following the HCG thread and have been inspired by what those ladies have accomplished, but I really don't want to do any hormone drops or shots or anything into my body, plus I can't deal with feeling hungry- even if it's temporary. Last year was my first introduction to the low-carb lifestyle. Thank you very much Uppy!! I have tried to stay on low carb more than going off- I really do feel much better when I stay away from sugar/bread/pasta/rice etc. But, I have had a few slips and between the stress of moving to a new state and getting stuck in a carb addicted rut, I gained back a few pounds. So, I decided to go back to strict low carb- I'm following Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution induction plan. Even though I was eating semi-low carb for the last two months, and had lost a couple of pounds, going even further and dropping to 20 net carbs has allowed me to lose 3.8 pounds in the last week. I'm eating delicious food, typically- bacon and eggs for brunch, a protein snack in mid-afternoon and a fabulous dinner including a big salad with dressing and whatever protein I have fixed for my family. I also drink my coffee with real cream, no sweetener. I have gotten used to it that way and now it's my preference. Using FitDay, I have tracked my calories for a couple of days and I'm averaging about 2000 calories a day. But, the beauty of Atkins (or whatever low carb plan you may choose), you don't have to count calories, you just have to track your carbs. Anyone else still low-carbing, or want to join in? I want to lose about 5 more pounds and I would love to have company!

I had also done Atkins, about 12 years ago and was very successful and kept it off for a long time. In the last 4-5 years however, I had fallen off the wagon and I've had a harder time losing on low carb than I had before, but also hope to re-set my system so I can maintain my losses long term, on low carb. When I'm 'in the groove' I feel great on low carb too! But I don't think I'll rely on the dairy as much in the future, when I get back to that maintenance phase...I know for me, starches/grains are a big problem, but I think dairy is also a trigger for me. Good luck with your program Jenny!

I'm a big fan of the low carb lifestyle and generally stick to it all the time. I have always found it very successful and I feel much better when I'm not eating carbs.
I do miss pasta and some breads, but I have found that using the Dreamfields pasta, and eating the occasional slice of Ezekiel bread, has not had a negative effect.
