So we are working with C&C through one of our distributors to get some custom cut OEC Moissanites. Instead of having them custom cut as we did before (which was very expensive, not to mention it changed the color of the stone) these will be cut from the Moissanite rough by Charles & Colvard. We are currently trying to work out the details of the cut. The process is moving along, but ever so slowly.

Once the details of the cut have been finalized, we will be ordering some stones. To begin with, we will probably order a few sizes for the initial test run: 6.5mm, 7.5mm and 8mm.

I will post updates as I get them. As far as an ETA, from what I have heard it is pretty far out (i.e. 2 months). But since this is the first time we have had a go at the process, we have no expectations. Hopefully it will move along quickly, and if the stones turn out as beautiful as the ones that Michael E cut for us (minus the golden brown color) it will likely be a regular offering.

We are also trying to order so trapezoid cut Moissanite (brilliant cut, not step cut).

Unfortunately, probably not. The reason being is that its difficult to set. You really have to have a split prong head to set it correctly. Our jewelers had one heck of a time trying to set it in a regular 4 prong head. In the end, they weren't able to get the prongs over the corners. The problem they ran into is that the corners were too soft (not much of a corner at all) and so when they tightened it, it would slip. Therefore if we did an OMC it would limit the number of rings it could be set into.

Hmmm I'll have to look for more pictures of a oec! I like the off white color of older diamonds and this would be more cost effective than a diamond. I'll be saving!!

This is VERY exciting! I'm also curious what the color might be, and if they could be enhanced.
