I'm starting to get a much clearer picture of the mira story. I'm curious if and how much the color enhancement of mira or the recut of H&A mira will affect the fire and brilliance of the original C&C moissanite. I would think the color enhanced mira out soon would have the same fire and brilliance of the original moissanite, just a lot clearer. But how would the fire and brilliance be affected by the H&A recut? Would the H&A recut still have more than a diamond?

I just thought of something. If BTD can get the raw, they could treat, say, a big 150ct hunk of raw moissy (since the treatment goes through all the material). THEN when they cut it into H&A / OEC and such, it wouldn't be super expensive anymore because they wouldn't have to 1) cut down 3cts to make 2cts (for example) and 2) could get a whole bunch of gemstones out of one "cooking" of raw moissy. Is this theory way off?
not really, your logic is there, im sure ideally btd would love to do this...except charles and colvard have the exclusive rights to cut moissanite, which is why btd cannot buy rough or cut them, and charles and colvard doesnt want them to get rough directly, bc if they arent cutting them, they arent in the equation/making money..so they want btd to hand over their cutting information (yeah right!) so that they can cut them..

Gracey...they can't get raw moissy in this country due to C&C copyright on cutting it for gemstone purposes. That's why they have to buy the already cut product and then re-cut and do the color enhancement. They are trying to move offshore so they can start with raw and do like you are saying. C&C copyright doesn't end until 2015...until then only countries where the copyright was not issued will be sold the Mira. actually they arent even allowed to recut the already cut stones from charles and colvard, they were trying to do that but even that infringes on the copyright, so as of right now, they cannot get raw moissy, or cut/recut it, all they can do is enhance the color

Hi all, The gem lab took a photo of the 6.5mm Mira for us (with flash): Should have this one for sale by the end of the week as soon as they finish making the new cert for it. Also, regarding the prior postings - change 'copyright' to 'patent', but otherwise its basically correct. C&C has a patent on cutting moissanite that expires in 2015. Best regards Less
