I'm not making this up, sorry if it upsets. Glad to hear there are GIA graders at NAGL though.

I understand what you are saying in general, as we have been burned by buying an EGL Europe F diamond, recutting it to H&A proportions, and then sending it to EGL US where they promptly graded it H color....apparently EGL Europe is notorious for lax standards but we didn't know that years ago.

However....while that may be true in some cases, making a blanket statement is not the right thing to do.

And, posting false information with the claim that you are 'merely repeating what you heard' is still posting defamatory comments.

And in this case it would be 'libel per se' b/c it impunes someones ability in their profession, meaning an easier case with more damages.

The US (and likely UK) legal system doesn't care if you are 'repeating what you heard', false statements that you publish are your responsibility.

Would it not be more productive to leave out the defensiveness and sarcasm in favor of facts. Fact is the lab has GIA gemologists and therefore would grade similar to GIA.

Specifically for NAGL - if NAGL has 2 former GIA graders as their only graders, meaning the same graders you would get if you sent it to the GIA just a couple years ago, how could there be a difference between GIA and NAGL?

The graders lost their ability to grade once they left GIA? The logic isn't there.

My post is gone. I basically said that defensiveness and sarcasm isn't necessary and can cost you customers. Wouldn't it be better just to restate the facts? Fact is this lab has GIA graduates therefore the stones should be graded similarly.

So that explains why some moissy's are moodier than others. Interesting. FWIW, my 7.5 doesn't show any yellow. beige or green at all. Yesterday I ran outside just before it started to rain to see what it looked like in overcast lighting and it still looked great. I can't GET it to show yellow or green. I tried taking pictures but they didn't turn out well at all. I might try another camera.

I can't believe how much you are going through to get good looking moissy's to start with. With no 'new' stock coming from C&C are you concerned that you will be getting back the same unacceptable stones to reject over and over again? Where are the rejects going? If the best stones are being culled for Mira the chances of getting a bad moissy is increasing UNLESS you get a Mira, no?

There was no sarcasm intended in my post. I'm not a sarcastic person. I re-read it and my question at the end was rhetorical and hence why I answered it...not sarcastic. (but yes, mentally add a different inflection than intended and it could be viewed that way).

In addition, posting false statements can definitely cost a gem lab customers since they rely on their reputation for integrity more than many other businesses.

And the often used "I'm only repeating what I read/heard" is exactly how false statements spread undeservedly.

So, what you term defensive, I term corrective - and I don't want these boards to be used as a platform for publicizing blanket false statements.

Best regards

Actually, your post got stuck within the quote, it's not gone.

As for any defensiveness and sarcasm...very difficult to read correctly in a forum setting. Even so, not unexpected given the perceived criticism of the grading lab Less chooses to use. Overall, Less has been very patient with our 1,000,000,000 questions and anxious fits about Mira and the process. It is still a NEW process and even critical feedback is helpful and welcome as Less demonstrated by offering to take back the stone, investigating the source of the problem and adding in an additional screening as a possible remedy. Personalities and perceptions aside, that's a pretty good response IMO.

Frankly, neither can we.

C&C continues to cut new stones from their existing (and very large) inventory so the pool of existing raw moissanite continues to expand.

As to where the reject's go, who knows. C&C claims that all moissy meets their 'strict' quality standards, so that's an issue they'll have to deal with.

I doubt Mira's going to change the odds that much...if C&C has $37M in rough, thats a heck of a lot of stones and rejecting some isn't going to change that large of a pool on any real percentile basis.

If there was no continuing influx of newly cut stones, then yes, it could cause a problem but not with the current situation of C&C continuing to cut new stones.

Best regards

Thank you for the clarification. I realize posting can be a bit trying as each person will add their own inflection to the post
