#644192 - Shellac topcoat on regular nail polish

This morning, I applied a Shellac Topcoat on my toenail polish, and cured. It's FINE. Of course, I haven't a clue how long it will last.

On the other foot, I did regular Shellac color and topcoat. I prefer the regular polish + topcoat so far.

Has anyone else done this? What have your results been like?

I'll tryo to let you all know how this works out.

I've heard it works well. The only thing I would caution you on is what my nail lady told me.

Regular nail polish is "wet" and takes a full 30 min to dry from the surface to the nail. Thats why even through the surface feels dry, the polish can still "dent." If you let it dry for that 30 min, then put the Shellac on, you should be fine. If not, you are sealing in wetness that wont dry and it could damage your nail.

I tried it with OPI color and Gelish topcoat, and as the polish underneath chipped, so did the topcoat. I only got 2 days out of a manicure.

Interesting information that I'll tuck in my mind. Thanks. I had put the polish on the other day, so it was fully dried.

FWIW, the all shellac toes feel softish. Hmm

I have, in the past, put polish on the gel/shellac, so this is new.

That doesn't sound good. I'll let you know!

Two days and holding. Did hands in clear base coat and topcoat, feet in Maybelline topped by Shellac topcoat. All good.

How do you treat your nails? Do you do any house cleaning or work with your hands?

I'm sure longevity is dependent on how one treats the hands and nails.
