Maybe it would help your BF to think of moissanite as a gemstone instead of a sim...because it is!! At least that's the way I see it. CZ/Asha are sims (not a knock, just a difference to me), moissy is a gemstone like sapphire, ruby, etc.

All it took for me to be sold on moissanite was to see one in person...and Mira looks soooooo much better than the others I have seen IRL. I may never own another diamond, lol.

He does feel better about moissanite as opposed to asha for that very reason. He was worried (as was I) that the asha would not hold up. I have seen one moissanite in person and it was not great, very green thought I do not know how old it was or where it came from. It was just a little hole in the wall jeweler who seemed to HATE moissanite. I think he was honestly going to try to sell them as diamonds and scam people but it didn't work out for him. Anyway, I am looking forward to seeing mira in person. As long as I am happy, my man will be appy smile He is a great man! Very supportive of my sim/moissy decision. He said with the money he will be saving on a diamond I can plan a trip. I am thinking Australia laugh

If you hate the diamond industry and don't want to wear a diamond, isn't it going to be weird when you pass off your stone as one? It doesn't seem logical to me.

Anyway, be sure to post a review of your Mira!

Once the shrinkage syndrome sets in, he'll be so glad you went with a Mira! grin

no not really. Nobody where I live will understand moissanite, they will just call it a "fake diamond". My BF makes good money and when someone who makes good money buys their GF a "fake diamond" they are looked upon as cheap. Now I know that it is my ring and I will feel good about it blah blah blah....but lets be REALLY honest here, no man wants to look like he cheaped out. I LOVE the look of diamonds and I can feel great about the fact that I got the look I wanted without harming anyone and without paying the inflated prices that I think are ridiculous, and nobody has to know. I do not broadcast my feelings about the diamond industry to my friends because I am the last to get married and they all have diamonds and a couple of their husbands work on the mines. I am not here to make anyone feel {admin removed} abut the ring they have, I just want to feel equally as good about the one I have and I would not feel that way about it if it were a real diamond.

LOL yes shrinkage may be a problem....I contemplated ordering the 1.25!

Honestly, I would not even worry about having to "pass off" your moissy/mira at all. I have a moissy e ring that I love and asked for BECAUSE it is a moissy. I find it a little rude when people come out of the blue and ask if it's "real" or not, especially when my hubby is right there. But most people don't have an utter lack of tact and I rarely have to say what my stone is (or isn't). It simply doesn't come up. People do however stop in their tracks to tell me that my ring sparkles so much it's distracting. I take it as a compliment smile

BTW, I am also opposed to the diamond industry. It's a complete fraud.

In my experience, my moissy (enhanced, but not a mira) looks bad in the same lighting circumstances that my diamonds look bad in (cloudy day, under fluorescent lights, on camera, etc). They don't show a green color tinge in bad lighting. In my opinion, they just look greyish and don't sparkle as much. But when I look at my diamond, I also think it looks bad, even though it's a near perfect stone. Same sort of grey.

However, in ideal lighting, my moissy vastly outshines my diamond and I am more fond of it regardless. You can't expect a stone to look great all the time and I think moissys get a bad wrap sometimes when diamonds behave the exact same way. Sort of a double standard. Not to mention, a perfect diamond with no color tint and of desirable proportions (.75 carat and up) cost more than what I put as a downpayment on my house and car combined....
