I only said that both C&C and I were "worried" about the moissanite dropping in price/value because I had to consider this when I purchased a moissy; as I could not really afford to buy a Mira in the size that I wanted right now. (Believe me, if I could, I definately would!!!)

So, my concern was, I was buying moissy because I wanted the longevity/durability, but in a few years' time, was I going to be sorry I didn't wait for the big price decrease for regular moissy? In the end, I couldn't wait to find out---LOL Hope I and others are not unhappy down the road. But, hey, no one is really likely to change a decision based upon that type of "forward looking" speculation. When it comes to something this beautiful, why wait???

I remembered all the comments on "foward looking" speach by C&C, and I am sure that had a lot to do with $$$.

Anyone can grow their own if they have the know how to do it and they are not violating a patent on someone's growing technique.

It is however, not easy to grow, but easier than how hard it is to grow diamond. There are probably 8 other companies that also grow Silicon Carbide besides Cree.

Cree does have a number of patents on how to grow, but that's their own unique way of growing. There are multiple ways to configure to grow including CVD, PVT, M-PVT, etc.

There is no patent on simply growing SiC - it's been grown in one way or another for 80 years or so (though only the past 20 that they could grow really large, high purity single crystals).

I am reading in other threads that there is OEC cut Moissanite being done by C&C and going to be sold by Moissaniteco. Does this mean you can get your hands on these stones and Mira-ize them?
