Less, I love these Friday updates! and those poor lost Miras

Wouldn't I love to find one of those near a dumpster.

That is so cool about the university possibly doing some testing, that would be SO cool to do! I'm a little jealous, but can't wait to see the results when you get them.

Although I'm new to the world of gems and synthetics, I have learned a lot from cruising sites and the BTD forums.

Most importantly: integrity and "transparency" (figuratively and literally!)are every thing in this business.

For C&C to claim "near colorless" and attack the quality of BTD's Mira says a lot. It shows great integrity and transparency for BTD to seek independent grading and testing rather than making vague, inaccurate claims.

Good for you! Honesty sounds like a strategy most people will really appreciate!

Hi all,
Wanted to post another Friday update:

1 - We substantially increased our Mira inventory for both cushions and rounds. New sizes include 8.5mm rounds and 8.5mm cushions for example.

2 - Next week we will be treating our first 'square brilliant' shapes for Mira. Most of these will be for MoissaniteCo, but we are excited to see how they turn out in terms of before and after appearance.

3 - 6mm cushions have been added, and these actually all came out as I color rather then the normal J for cushions.


4 - Monday, 8/8 was in fact a big milestone day for Mira. However, the reason for it will have to be explained in October...so a bit longer to explain, but will make sense in October.

5 - We have hired a new customer service staff to help out in the early mornings. This is a continuation of our strategy to try and increase closer to 'around the clock' customer service since we have customers in so many time zones.

6 - First draft of our H&A Mira cutting patent application should be ready next week. I am hopeful we will have this officially filed with the USPTO by mid-Sept.

7 - Received word from the US Patent office that our Asha patent (dual coating process) will be approved. Have to sign some papers, and pay the 'issuance fee', but we'll have an official patent approval after that. Official announcement/press release will happen then, but that was some great news this week.

8 - Finally, we've started some initial discussions with a potential Mira distributor in a non-patent covered country. That is exciting of course since we will be able to make and sell Mira H&A's in the future regardless of the US patent situation.

People have posted some rather interesting claims made by other raw moissanite dealers about their product and their own 'treatments', so I thought if people had a better understanding of some basic solid state chemistry, they could more readily weed out some of these claims...and perhaps have a better appreciate their own gems.

1 - OEC - right now we would just be doing it for MoissCo's OEC's that they are having C&C cut. For many, many reasons we have zero plans to ever work with C&C.

Once the patent situation gets resolved (and it will, just a question of sooner or later) then if there is still demand, we'll be happy to design and cut our own Mira OEC and then yes, that would be direct to customers.

2 - Melee timeline - we hope to have a new configuation setup for multiple small stones working within the next few weeks. If it doesn't work, then it would require building a new system and that would push it out for at least six months.
If it does work, then we'll start treating melee at some point in Sept.
