I have read a few things about moissanite not looking so great when the skies aren't clear. However, I thought a Mira stones were much whiter than a regular moissanite? Maybe you did get a dud like what was mentioned above? I also live in Seattle and will get an Asha for now because I'm afraid of the moissanite color problem.

I think I'm missing something. I keep hearing, "If you don't like Mira, you'll probably like Amora Gem better"... did I miss something big while I've been away from the boards?

I thought Amora was just a re-name for Mira? Are they different things?

BTW, Sassafrass, I love your ring. You mentioned she laughed at the ring itself... what was wrong with the setting?

I think you're entitled to return what you don't like. But to have to return something your mother didn't like? Your mom should be extremely ashamed of her behaviour. "Diamond snob" just doesn't cut it. She's family and should be supportive. End of story. I'm so sorry she did that to you, and I'm sorry she tainted your joy for your new sparkly. I know I'd have a hard time wearing something that was ridiculed like that - it would be all I could think of whenever I looked down at it. frown

You'll probably be VERY happy with an Asha. I wouldn't even tell her it's not a diamond... she'll never know. I've fooled at least 4 jewellers with mine. LOL.

lol, yes you are missing something huge! Go read the Amora H&A gem debut thread. wink

and if you skim, just to get to the pics and video, make sure you go back and read it; it is a little confusing initially.

Thanks Jcent! I JUST found it. LOL, this is the 5th keyboard to need replacing from drool this month alone! WOW! grin

Okay, Sassafrass - get one of THOSE. Amora is truly amazing looking! And the colour grade is TDF!

Hi all - have to get used to the fact that I am not using Twitter and will stop using the @ before names smile

MeLikey - I don't think my Mira was quite right. When I compare it to all of the other pictures on this board (even those with a warm tone), it doesn't look as good as the other rings - even some of the non Mira rings. Before ruling out Mira, I would suggest ordering a loose stone and seeing if you like it ( I should have done that first!!)

My mom is....special smile. She is very good at giving critical feedback.

DaynaM - I liked my setting ok. I did not like the prongs at all. I requested double claw prongs and expected them to be a little more talon-ish. On my ring they seemed like they were double prong, but just beaded at the top? That was my mistake for not being specific though.

I did think the 2.25mm band was pretty, although it did accentuate the stone more which in my case was not good because of the issue I had with color. If I had a better colored stone it would have been perfect - if I had kept the Mira, I would have changed the setting and added some side bling.

All in all I am happy to have sent it back because the more I look at other Mira rings on this board; I think my Mira was weird. I wish I wouldn’t have been so impulsive and would have ordered a loose stone first. Unfortunately the experience with my mom and the stone left a bad taste in my mouth so I am waiting for the Amora Gem!! Until then it is Asha for me!

Hate to be a Debbie Downer, but I can see what your mother is saying about the Moissanite ring. I can see a greenish tint in the two last pictures. It is a pretty ring, I was hoping NOT to see what you were talking about, but I can. I'm sorry, and forgive me. smile

I think you'll love Asha if you give it a go, but order a loose one first to make sure! I have an F colored flanders and it is reeeeally white and very sparkly!

I'm way behind and I just saw your pics. I think that Mira looks very gray, boo. frown I briefly owned a 7.5mm Mira cushion and I played with it on a bright, sunny day and I NEVER thought it looked white. It was always yellowish - maybe H color - and at certain angles I also saw gray. I never saw green, though! Anyway, although I was very aware of the yellow tint, it didn't bother me but I'm always puzzled when people mention that they "rarely" see yellow because that is ALL I saw, hehe. If your preference is for very white stones then I personally don't think Mira/Amora would cut it. I would get an Asha for now and then upgrade to the new Amora gem when it launches. cool

Is the new Amora gem when launched expected to be whiter than the current one?
