I actually live in Wa. State.
My passion is life is kangaroos!! Crazy huh!!???
For years I had wanted a kangaroo,..someone has them about 1 hour away from me. I would go there every year for my birthday,.and dream.
My husband said NO WAY!!!!!!!!
I had a picture on my fridge of two momma roos with their joeys sticking out of their mommas pouch. And at Christmas around 06,..
at the bottom of my stocking,..was MY picture I had on my fridge all those years. I looked puzzled. PapaRoo(hubby) said, turn it over....on the other side was a note that said,..YOU ARE ON THE WAITING LIST FOR YOUR FIRST ROO!!!!!!!!!
I was doing the chicken dance all over the house(and of course embarrasing my kids as usual?
We now have,..3 Red Kangaroos, 2 wallaroos, and 2 wallabies. My passion grey so deeply,...and I learned of the horrendous slaying of the roos in Australia.
They are called shooters. They kill in such a horrible way.
Hold a momma down,..pull the baby joey out in front of mamma, and stomp on the babies head,..then slay the momma.
Dont get me started.
I am great friends with a woman who has used her WHOLE life is Australia to TRY to save them. She even wrote the only vet manual for roos.
She said that the first ones to always kill are the big reds,..and that in our lifetime,..we will see the end of them.
I have had many sleepless nights over this cruelty.
What can I do as an American??
I feel useless for my passion.........
So all I have come up with now is,..
I am starting to draw a serious of roos,..and will sell my art.
I will send a portion to a wonderful place in Australia who lives to save the roos.
Here is there story......
http://www.wildhavenstandrews.com.au/index.htmlI will continue to share and education others here on these magical animals.
They are loving,.and have a huge family bond. They have been know to mourn deeply when their family members die,..and will cry out sometimes for days.
