Just thought of something random. And I'm bored!
I was looking at this years winter nail polish trends, and noticed a few celebrities wearing huge colored gemstone rings with some of this years polish colors.
I've only worn white or yellow gold rings with clear stones or white pearls, so I haven't given much thought about nail polish color (only thought about it when it came to the color of my clothes).
Just curious, but what polish colors do you think would "go with" an emerald ring, or a big blue sapphire? Or really any colored gemstone?

I have never thought about it but now I probably will. I don't really wear many colored stone rings though so maybe thats why

Neutral colours for emeralds and rubies. Both could work well with dark colours or light I think. I would stay away from glittery polish though maybe...but I could change my mind on that if I saw one I liked. For a big blue sapphire, I think anything goes; just like a great pear of jeans.

I was actually just thinking about this tonight as I did my nails for my ruby that should be coming this week. I picked a gun metal silvery shade.

I was just thinking about this b/c im considering getting the kashmir blue sapphire in the timless cushion halo as my e-ring. I know the color is gorgeous but then i wonder willi get tired of the color, will it clash with what i wear or look odd with certain nail polish colors. Lol just a thought

I think a gun metal shade color would be a great contast to the ruby ring! maybe even a metallic brown or gold shimmer possibly if ur into that

Anyway, I do neutrals and opalescents with my ruby. I have done glittery polish and thought it looked good, but not everyone agreed! Really though, the ruby is so bold that a light pink, nude, or sheer polish works best for me-but that's partly because she's in yellow gold too. I've done red before, but haven't loved it. I do have one OPI shade that looks okay....but only if there's no other color going on.

Gunmetal is an EXCELLENT choice for a ruby though! Jcent, is it in white gold? That will look AMAZING.

Back when I had a sapphire, it went with pretty much anything. I will say that I personally kept it pretty minimal though because I liked that sapphire being center stage and not competing at all. But I'm a minimalist at heart anyway so that plays into it. That and the fact that my fingers are short and stumpy so the polish is very close in proximity to the stone!

I know this has been discussed before and I went back to the older threads trying to locate exactly what I need to try this on my own. But, what exactly would I need to do my own nails w/Shellac? and where would I buy the equipment needed to do this at home?

LOL e.taylor! This thread came up just after I spent a good few minutes planning the perfect colour. And yes, my ruby is set in white metal, and a simple solitaire. I didn't want my nails to compete. I am really excited about it and hope I get it this week!! eeeek.

Sweet angel, I actually love metallic brown, I just wore that recently though so I thought I woud wait for a few more weeks. I have a kashmir cushion from BTD. Have you seen the thread? It is pic heavy with stone pics, and dark nail polish.
