Thanks everyone for your replies. I have been emailing Chris, w/ Moissanite and Co., who I believe is handling our request instead of Mike C. Hopefully, with his assistance, we (my hubby and I) will be able to make a dicision soon. We are have an extremely hard time making a diecision regarding purchasing our center stone. :-( It's a bit discouraging.

Dilemma: want the whitest 2.2 cushion moissy available, which would be the Amora Gem once it debuts. Should we wait? OR, can someone, anyone, help us find the whitest one available now??? To add to the confusion, most retailers claim that if they had several 2.2 cush moissy's, they would be able to hand pick the "whitest" one for us. We are ready now and are currrently designing the setting. Ugh...it's a tough call and I just really want it to be the best choice. :-/ Feedback greatly appreciated.

I'm new to this forum and only recently found out about moissanites and now - the Amora H&A gem. I've been following the updates, but still have a few questions. I live in Europe where moissanites are practically unknown (at least in my country) so I have no chance to see one in person but thay look amazing on the pics and videos and I'm really intrigued...

This forum has been very informative and I'm very curious about the new Amora H&A gem and I know lots of you are as well.

My questions are mostly directed to Less I suppose, but maybe some of you still know a bit more than me.

So here goes...

- Does the Amora H&A gem also pick up from the surrounding colors (like the C&C moissanite does)?

- I read that the RB cut of the C&C moissanite are a bit shallow and that it can look a bit glass like/flat. Is that also a problem with the Amora H&A gem?

- I can't really find any specific answeres to the question about the hardness of the Amora gem. How does it compare to the C&C moissanite? And what is the difference between hardness and toughness? Is the Amora more durable than diamonds because the toughness is greater?

- When the Amora is compared to diamonds is that comparason based on a diamond with the best 4Cs available? If not, I guess several stones might have more brilliance than a poorly cut diamond.

- Will Amora OECs be available fairly soon (in 2012)? And will the culet be as big as on the C&C moissanite (I hope not)?

- I live in a country where the patent exists, but I couldn't see Norway on the list over countries where the patent is valid. Would it be possible to send the Amora to Norway then?

I'm sorry if these questions have been answered already somewhere on the BTD site, but I haven't been able to find the information. I know that these are questions that most members won't be able to answer, but I'll post this anyway.

See, Borismom, THAT wouldn't deter a Canadian. We pay 13 to 15% in taxes (depending on the province) and duty depending on value/content whenever we order from any of our lovely board members.

So a vacation to MX and getting our gems at the same time would WORK for us, if the hotel staff would stay out of our parcel.

I don't believe Less has posted a comparison in hardness to diamonds yet, but Less has stated that Amora Gem is harder then a sapphire by 23% and that he needs to do further testing and hasn't posted any more stats-
I am guessing that since a Sapphire is 9 on the mohs scale and C&C Moissy is 9.25 it is the same hardness as the C&C Moissy.

I do not think that is harder or tougher than a diamond, but i seem to recall that the atomic bonding is different so that it resist dirt/oil better than diamonds...

Amoras hopefully will start being available in Spring 2012 in Non-banned country's- but this is only a guesstimate at this point, many things could impact the start date and push it back (or maybe forward)



If Norway is not on the banned country list- which I don't see that it is you are able to order a Amora when avalible and have it shipped to Norway- then it is up to you to do whatever you want with it, including taking it/having it shipped elsewhere
