Most consumers are unaware of the varying flavors of AGS Ideal Cut rounds that exist. While the AGS Cut Grading system is perhaps the strictest cut grading system there are varying appearances within the AGS Ideal realm. This video is not exhaustive but does show 2 of the varying types of AGS Ideal cuts that are possible to get. If you had your choice between these two which one would you pick? funny to be the only one who chose the left one so far... i would have chosen the right, but the left ended up being sparklier and brighter, although the right has more contrast...

I chose right...although it's funny because I can't really explain WHY I chose it.....it just "spoke" to me more

I thought the right was brighter in natural light. I am not often in spot lighting so the first lighting is not most important to me.

Is the difference the length of the lower girdle facets?

I like the one on the right because it has thicker arrows and a broader contrast pattern. I prefer chunky cushions and OECs to RBs, and rather dislike extra faceted rounds, so it's no surprise I prefer the chunkier arrows of the stone on the right. I can imagine RB purists or extra faceted round lovers might prefer the thinner arrows on the left, esp. because of the way the arrows on the right stone 'club' at the ends with certain light angles/obstruction.

They are both beautiful disco balls! But, I prefer the one on the left because of the larger cutlet.

Just to answer your questions so far.

Lower half lengths on the 2 diamonds are 79% vs 77%.

2% in lower half length alone will not cause the visual difference you see.

Also Erika, both have no culet.
