Nikki,..do you mean compare yg to wg on my own skintone??
Yes, I think that's what she's saying.
I always DID wear yellow gold, and then got my original wedding set in white. Mainly because I was wearing a good amount of silver at that point. However white gold is different than silver. It made my skin look ruddy. Yellow and rose gold looks much better on ME.
I don't think I've ever tried platinum.
This is like me! I always wore yellow (just little gemstone rings, earrings, and such). My first taste with white metals was with my first wedding band and then my second set.
I've decided yellow gold alloys (and
some rose gold alloys) are much more flattering for me. I am pale & blue eyed, but with red/deep copper hair, and yellow seems to just bring out the warmth of my skin so much more, as well as is more vibrant on me. The white metals just seem to wash me out more and to be honest, I have determined just are not as attractive to me when I am wearing them (though look great on others where it compliments them better!).
I did read about the "vein test" a while back. Despite my pale skin and always thinking I was very "porcelain like", turns out I have very warm tones (very green veins!).
Anyway, totally makes sense to me as I
always look better in earth tones - coppers, greens, browns, yellows while jewel tones/pastels wash me out and are not flattering on me (as they are on cool toned people!).
My new set is going to be in yellow gold.
I have found that while some rose gold alloys work great with my skin, some actually seem to have the same affect on me as the white and wash me out - more so when they are more "pink" than "yellowy-rose".
