I have an M colored diamond in 18k rose and it's stunning if I do say so myself! It has a thin platinum bezel, but what you see around the stone is rose. I love the look and think moissy would look splendid that way.

e.taylor do you have any pictures of your M colored diamond ring? My new omc is an M and I am thinking 18k rose gold for the setting!

yes i think rose gold would really help make the moissy appear whiter smile

as for metal color and skin tone its really tough bc it varies so much from person to person but heres something i found...

Cool skin tones are identifiable by bluish colored veins. People with cooler skin tones may notice pinkish or rosy-red undertones when looking in the mirror. Eye color can range from light blue to dark brown and anywhere in between. Most people have cool skin, including people with dark skin and tan skin.

Warm skin tones are identifiable by greenish colored veins.
People with warmer skin tones may notice yellow or golden-apricot undertones when looking in the mirror. Eye color can, again, be any color. People who's natural hair color is red, orange, or strawberry blonde almost always have warm skin. Sometimes hair may be more brown, but it will have a reddish tint. People with darker skin are not usually warm-skinned.

cool=white metals
warm-yellow/rose gold

That's wierd, Nikki!

Apparently for the first time I'm finding out I'm a cool skinned olive-toned girl! I didn't know they existed so I always assumed I had warm skin.. Who'da thunk it!?

I have yellow tones to my skin (redhead) and I look SO much better in yellow gold/rose gold than white. White looks awful on me.

Yes, I think that's what she's saying.

I always DID wear yellow gold, and then got my original wedding set in white. Mainly because I was wearing a good amount of silver at that point. However white gold is different than silver. It made my skin look ruddy. Yellow and rose gold looks much better on ME.

I don't think I've ever tried platinum.

This is like me! I always wore yellow (just little gemstone rings, earrings, and such). My first taste with white metals was with my first wedding band and then my second set.

I've decided yellow gold alloys (and some rose gold alloys) are much more flattering for me. I am pale & blue eyed, but with red/deep copper hair, and yellow seems to just bring out the warmth of my skin so much more, as well as is more vibrant on me. The white metals just seem to wash me out more and to be honest, I have determined just are not as attractive to me when I am wearing them (though look great on others where it compliments them better!).

I did read about the "vein test" a while back. Despite my pale skin and always thinking I was very "porcelain like", turns out I have very warm tones (very green veins!).

Anyway, totally makes sense to me as I always look better in earth tones - coppers, greens, browns, yellows while jewel tones/pastels wash me out and are not flattering on me (as they are on cool toned people!).

My new set is going to be in yellow gold.

I have found that while some rose gold alloys work great with my skin, some actually seem to have the same affect on me as the white and wash me out - more so when they are more "pink" than "yellowy-rose".
