How rude. I can't believe ppl think it is ok to say anything negative about your ring- it's gorgeous! Honestly, I don't think everyone gets the appeal of antique/vintage stones and it's their loss (more for us! :))

i agree with VintageDime, people just don't know their diamonds if they are not RB-D-E-F.
congratulations on being her proud owner and for waiting for her to happen!!

I'm so late to this thread! Been busy & haven't been on the forums much. Milady- your ring is GORGEOUS! Don't let other peoples opinions get you down hun! Like they say- the haters gonna hate. They're just jealous!!! As I mentioned when we met up, most people are not familiar with antique cuts, so they don't know what to expect. 99% of people only know what round & princess cuts in the diamond world since they are the most popular cuts. I have to admit, I don't know anything about antique cuts myself, but I surely wouldn't ask why there was a hole in the center or why it was so yellow! Ughhhh freakin people! No filter! I haven't experienced any snarks with any of my rings & if I did, I'd prolly couldn't keep my mouth shut & would mention something about their jewelry looking like ass lol! I know I'm not being the bigger person if I did come back with something rude, but I really take offense if someone said something rude to me about my jewelry b/c I take pride in it since I picked it out etc... I can't wait to meet up with you ladies again It was a BLAST chatting with you ladies & looking forward to our next meet flashfrenzy- you have to let me know which ring you decide to go with for your big anniversary okay

WOW, kanga! Thank you so much for linking me to that thread! I completely related to the entire thing and I definitely feel better knowing that it’s THEIR issue (or ignorance) and not mine. I certainly don’t need their permission to love my ring or my sweet husband and they can think what they want. Some people have trouble keeping their mouth shut but I won’t let it get to me anymore. I should have put my vent into a new thread like you did, but it was past my bedtime and I didn’t think about it. VintageDime, emeraldgal, Sukie: I was worried about posting that feedback because I didn’t want people to be scared that something was wrong with the moissy. I agree with all of you... I think people just don’t understand antique cuts in general, which is their loss. If it isn’t a modern sparkler then they thing something is wrong. *eye roll* I’ll ignore all the rude peeps and work on hoarding all the antique cuts for myself, hehe. Don’t worry, I’ll share with you! S2kgrrl, welcome to the party! Your rings blow my mind! I can’t imagine anyone saying anything negative about those fireballs. This morning I made up my mind to stop being a Crankasaurus about people’s rude remarks and while I was standing in line to buy coffee, the girl behind me started going nuts over my ring and she was gushing about how she has never seen a ring like it before. WOOT! Mission complete. We need to plan our next get together soon!

Oh, I'm so happy to hear your ring got some attention this morning, Milady! I knew you just needed to give it some time. My rings rarely get comments, (shoot, I'm so attention deprived I might even take a rude remark over silence, hehe) but when they do happen it makes it all the sweeter. Someone once said that if you think something is beautiful other people will start to think it is beautiful, too. That awe starts to rub off on people eventually. Wear her with confidence and the love you feel for your hubby. If anyone says anything negative ever again just start gushing over it and the stone and how much you love your hubby for getting such a one-of-a-kind ring for you...that the stone stands apart from the rest and the flashes of light it gives off is like sunshine being thrown at you all day long reminding you how much he loves you. The gushing will drive them absolutely bonkers, lol!!

I just have to chime in here with a funny story about ignorance of older cuts. Milady, you will get a kick out of how I felt about my first OEC. I had never seen an antique cut in person. I just knew that I loved what I was seeing here on the board and I wanted one for myself. In fact, the exact one I fell in love with is now the one in your 'Lily'!! It's gorgeous! I placed an order for a 7mm from MoCo. It was beautiful but threw myself and my husband off when it arrived. I sat it next to my RB and boy does my hubby have a good eye. He said well, the RB is super white compared to the OEC. BUT the OEC has a fire that the RB doesn't even come close to. I placed it into my setting to see which would look better and I could not make up my mind for the exact reasons my hubby mentioned. Overall, I decided I wanted fire over color. When I called Beth at Schubach's to place an order for a larger OEC (the 7mm was too small in my setting) and ask for it to be enhanced she was surprised that I felt it needed it. She was supportive, as always, but pointed out that older cuts are supposed to have more warmth. She happily enhanced it for me but it just goes to show how most of us don't know what an older cut looks like. I'm prepared to hear some nasty comments from some. Well, actually I think the only person that may comment is one of my good friends that thinks she's a diamond expert but she's not by any means I love, love, love your OEC and you should definitely rock that piece of art with pride!!!
