An 8 main cushion brilliant is my FAVORITE CUT EVER, and oh so hard to find ~ I cannot wait to see it when it comes! I'm so there!

I saw this on FB today too, and am sooooo excited to see it completed! This could be absolute perfection; and since GOG is doing it, I am sure it will be.

I swore up and down I wasn't going to break down and buy a diamond. I just changed my mind.

lol! I have never made that promise to myself, hehehe. We are saving up for my cushion upgrade, and I was thinking the Brellia, but this could be even better!!

Agh ... how'd I miss this thread? Ok ... here's the scoop. Every since diamond prices went up last year at the same time we've also seen a greater divide between the prices of rounds and fancies. There generally used to be about a 20% difference on the round vs fancy price lists but that has grown more to around 40%. With that, more and more cutting facilities have been cutting "cushion modified". I do a search for cushions these days and 99 out of 100 diamonds are cushion modified with many of these having that watery crushed ice appearance I'm not too fond of. I know some people like them and I have easy access to them but traditional 8 main cushion brilliants are becoming almost impossible to find, much less finding them with the type of optics I know people LOVE. As our lab has literally hundreds of 3d models of every type of cushion you can possibly imagine I took the facet structure of the traditional 8 mained cushion and restructured its overall geometry to produce what I believe will be a cushion as stunning as the AVC or Brellia. Since you guys are already familiar with the AVC and the Brellia (Square Cushion H&A), here are the computer generated images of all 3 side by side with the newbie. You guys are the FIRST to see it.

As you can see it is a markedly different looking cushion than the 2 beside it and I believe will be a real hit.

yay! thanks Rhino!! I can't wait to see a video of a real live stone I love cushions in general (not the crushed ice kind though) and am planning for my upgrade. If I reuse my original setting, which I AM kinda attached to, the more modern cuts will look best. I love the AVC but that would require a new setting, and I might be sad going that route. So, I am realy eager to see the new GOG 8 main.

I think I'm going to adore it ~ can't wait to see it cut and making it's debut in a video!

Tell me it will be sometime in the near future? This summer maybe? EXCITING!!!!
