After about six months of discussion and dh finally decided we could get a puppy. We already have an 8 year old beagle, who is very sweet but very much an eat and sleep by the fire kind of dog, not a lap dog. Love her to pieces and she is great with the kids but I have always wanted a little bitty lap dog.
Well"........ I had been kind of looking for awhile and recently saw a longhaired puppy chihuahau that I just fell in love with. I wasn't sure about getting a dog that small with three kids, but she just stole my heart.
I thought on it for a few days, my kids even my four year old are very considerate and well behaved. DS preschool teachers are always telling me how he is so sweet and not wild like the other boys. So I decided I would just have to be sure to teach every how to be gentle.
So dh and I went to pick her up on Thursday, the kids didn't know, they were so excited, when we came home, with the puppy. She has been such a sweetheart. We named her Honey at first because she is a light brindle color with black markings on her face, so she is the color of honey. The name really fit her. Unfortunately every time I called for her, Dh responded

that is also my nickname for him, oops, so we quickly learned that was not going to work

so she has been officially named Bella now. (after much discussion DS wAnted so name her snowman and santaclaus)
She is quickly fitting into our household, Molly the beagle was afraid of her at first, but they are warming up to each other and having short but wild play sessions, they ignore each other the rest of the time. My girls fight over who gets to hold Bella while she is sleeping, and even take her out to potty without complaining.
I am very excited, I have always wanted a bitty dog, and dh has always been so against it. He is loving this puppy as much as everyone else, he was snuggling her last night, and I caught him putting a parka on her to take her out to potty because it was raining
