And third, doing a custom order was like cooking an epic meal. You know how sometimes after spending so much time in the kitchen cooking a meal, it's the last thing in the world you want to eat? Somehow, it was like that. After so much time making it and getting it right, and then it not being what I expected, I just wanted to move on to something else.
I totally agree with you on this part. I have different pictures/profiles of settings which I'd like to take bits and pieces of to create my dream ring and I am absolutely terrified that it would not turn out as I want. Luckily DK is less than 25 miles from me and I am making arrangements to meet with him personally and look around his store to get a better idea. I'm a visual person. It's a significant investment and seeing it IRL makes a difference.
Sorry it didn't work out, it was beautiful. But you deserve to have something that makes your heart smile!

WOW, i was going to leave a lovely ring, congrats note, then i saw that you just couldn't bond with it.
Sorry it wasn't you... We are such funny creatures, our rings really have to be the ones, or we just wont rest till they are.
Im looking forward to seeing your new sparklie and i hope that it's "the one".
Don't you find finding "the one" tiring? I love my set but i know deep down that my e-ring will one day be replaced, when i have the funds.

YES, very tiring. And so much more emotional than I thought it would be!
I know now that another reason that I couldn't bond with the DK ring was that it was just way too different from my original e-ring, which my husband worked his 20 year old butt off to buy--a simple round solitaire in a plain shank.
I tried talking myself into this being a 15 year anniversary upgrade, so why not go BLING, but in the end, it just wasn't me. I wanted something that reminded me of what he worked for. I am hoping the Abigail will be it--a dainty solitaire with just enough bling to make me feel special but not uncomfortable.

That is one GORGEOUS ring! What ever became of it? I completely understand on it not being "the" ring...those are hard to come by, and it seems us girls are always changing our minds anyway, lol. As far as the execution of the ring, it looks like DK knocked it out of the park...wow!!

I bet if anybody here inquired about it he'd be more than happy to sell it.

I don't know what he did with it, but I'm sure he won't have trouble selling it. I feel so bad for sending it back...in a way like I let you all down! Hopefully the ring will find a good home, to a lucky girl who will love it as it deserves to be loved.

Honestly, its his return policy, if he was not comfortable taking returns on a custom made setting he would not include it in his policy (i.e. Ashadiamond.com for example doesnt take returns on custom pieces). Its not "Poor David", he wouldn't advertise to do it if he didn't want to, obviously.
