I am going to be getting my e-ring this month but haven't decided on the center stone yet. I know I want a 7mm (Im a size 5-5.15) cushion.

I just can't decide if I want to get a regular moissy or pay more for the amora. My DF is so against not getting a "real diamond" so I've been sending him pics of moissy with real diamonds to have him pic out the real ones which he cant.

Anyway I was looking at videos to show him and came across this one

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XZE3Vkb85Z4&feature=related

and cannot believe how well she captured the beauty of that stone! I am kind of surprised how nice it looks...it makes me wonder if getting the amora is worth it. Her stone looks fantastic. Do you think it is worth the price difference?

I have a 3ct un-enhanced and in all honesty, it's white most of the time. I would try a normal stone first, just order a loose one... I think the older moissanites where a bit off with their colour but the newer ones, mine, has hardly any colour...

Good luck!

I would say yes, it is worth it. If only because all moissy is not created equally. You could get lucky and get an amazing unenhanced stone; or you could get one with a funky cut, in the O/P range, with green undertones. Last Less said, more than 50% of the stones from C&C were not good enought o even become Amora stones. I personally would not chance it. And cushions, even with Amora are J anyway, which is pretty warm, IMO.

That's a great point! So I have been here long enough that I should know this BUT before amora there were regular moissy and enhanced...what has happened to the enhanced stones?

Are the current "regular" moissy the old enhanced?

The enhanced are still offered through other vendors, like Schubachs. It is a Serenity enhancment and is $60/carat. I think it is helpful, but not graded or anything. It depends how picky you are. If I were getting an OEC, I would probably mnot Amora it, but for a modern cut, I would in a heart beat; or actually I would wait for Amora Gem, and use CZ in the meantime.

+1! I wasn't a fan of rounds until I saw the Amora Gem H&R cut, now its all I can think about! That and an OEC. smile

I'll post a photo for you in one minute on this very topic...the 'old' enhanced was basically tied up in deal now with Charles and Colvard. Serenity is the one that does the coating work and now it is being sold under Charles and Colvards new brand "Forever Brilliant".

The gem lab just photoed two 1ct rounds together to show the difference...I'll put it in a new thread now.

Best regards
