haha! if they let me I certainly will. But they did say a sample may not be at their location. I told him that was ok as I want to look again and see what they have.

Holy swivel sticks! I sure did open a can of worms on this one!

I hope Milady isn't upset with me frown

I'm sorry that you had your ingenuity and innovation so badly ripped off by another (or maybe just "other") jewelers! It makes me very pleased to be working with you and Grace for my e-ring. You are both so professional and take pride in your ethical business practices.

I hope you can get it worked out and take these knock-off's off the market. Oh, and hopfully find a way to continue making Lily as she is just such a stunning ring!

I am just curious if the "copied" version has all of the structual issues that caused Lily to be discontinued?? Or could that be the difference that makes them not the same?

I want to get a Lily, but the one for sale has a 8mm lab sapphire- which I don't want.

We didn't have "structural issues", we had consistency problems.

There are 2 separate things going on with Lily. Because of the setting style, it's not suitable for Ashas, CZ's, Moissanite, or any more delicate gemstones. It's fine for diamonds.

Second to this, our jeweler had trouble maintaining the proportions via CAD each time he'd tweak the design for a new center stone. It got to be very time consuming, for this particular design, to modify for each center stone. The additional design time rendered the setting not profitable at the price we were selling it for, so we opted to discontinue it (which may be permanent, may be temporary, we haven't yet decided) rather than increase the price.

To be honest, the general public showed little interest in the Lily setting in general, and the majority of inquiries were for sims, which we can't use in the setting anyway. So we thought discontinuing it for the time being would be best.

That being said, we didn't try modifying the design into a prong setting like Schubach's did for Milady's Lily. That would solve the sim issue, but I just haven't had the time or resources to resurrect Lily for a face lift smile

Shoot me an email - we're open to doing it! We're also open to doing one-off customs if people are ok with converting the tension setting into a prong setting, like Milady did.

I sent an email to grace, as I already had her email. It would need to have a bezel/halo modification, as my stone is way smaller.

I personally think the prongs are hardly noticable at all! I had no idea what Milady has tweaked by Schubach's until I really really inspected it, and someone had to also flat out say what was different.

I actually like the new Lily with the little bitty "prongs" she has, because they just look like the petals are giving the stone a gentle, and eye pleasing, hug! smile

Resurrect that baby and add some prongs; she's sure to be a hit again!

There is nothing really unique about it anymore.
I have an edwardian repro ring and have been wondering for a long while that a oec would look so much better in it. Every time I have been asked about my ring, it is questioned if it was a family heirloom and ya know, now I'm just gonna say yes! haha and with the old antique diamond feel with the oec.
when I showed my mom chriscz's oec she gasped and asked about the hole in it and I'm like oh it's just a cut in the bottom to make in extra special. and I must admit when I first saw a OEC a few years ago I'm like ugh wth? but it's true like flash said, the more I see them, the more I love their uniqueness and how different they are from what is mostly on the market today. I'm glad though that none of my friends know what an antique is or how to get them because I like having something that is just my taste that no one else has.
I do think that having a oec or omc cut is easier to pull of being a diamond because who would question it if they've never seen one? there is nothing to compair it to like a brilliant cut diamond.

this is long! again congrats! I love the emerald too!!

Would you consider sharing where you bought your antique repro ring? I am starting to love the old mountings.
