In my experience (I had a 1 carat round diamond), there was a bit of rainbow, but nothing like your coated OEC. I also wore a 7.5mm regular round moissy for many years, and I am VERY familiar with the rainbow it gives off. I recognized it right away with your coated OEC, but the Amora looks just like a diamond to me.

***Amora OEC--to clarify--appears more diamond-like/authentic.
The OEC cut with the larger facets seems to make the rainbow effect more subtle than on a modern round brilliant Amora. Though I have heard also that the Amora treatment alone cuts down on the rainbow.

I like the one in your setting in the first video, but the Amora better in the sun video. I think the Serenity one is crisper actually, and now that I am comparing, prefer the larger culet. Sleep on it for a while I think.

The rainbow effect would be the only thing I question to be honest.

My diamonds do sparkle in various colours... but not in the disco bal kinda way. Actually, funny story. Just yesterday someone asked me if my real diamond wedding set was real as they had never seen anything so sparkly. LOL, I was a bit shocked as 1-it is normal sized, and 2- no one ever asks me that, even with sims... So *too much* sparkle of any kind, can make people suspicious I guess. It comes down to people just being blissfully unaware of diamonds and anything that may resemble a diamond, and a lot of people judging diamonds and rings by comparing them to mall or chain store diamonds. ETA: and as for what I think of the rainbow disco ball, I like it. But that is characteristic of moissy and I wear mone as moissy. I get why people wnt to pass it off, but I don`t feel the need to do that...maybe because I do have diamonds too, I don`t know. If you can wrap your head around it and be ok with telling people what it is, should they ever ask, you might like the rainbow thing because it is pretty. Whether it is like a diamond or not... But that said, people are not likely to ask. Unless of course you just don`t like how the rainbow effect looks. if the rainbow thing is really bugging you, then there is your answer. The "forever" aspect of it would not concern me as your stone is guaranteed through Schubachs. And lets just say C&C does have something new in the works, Schubies will upgrade for etc... they would also upgrade it to a diamond for you if you choose at some point. So that isn`t the deal breaker in my eyes. You just have to pick the one you think is the prettiest, or at least with the least things that make you not sure of it. Do you want an Amora Gem at some point still?? Or are you thinking diamond upgrade? Or do you want to swap a stone now and keep it like that forever?

Oh, jcent, you always have me thinking Honestly, I think one day (now that I have fallen so in love with OEC's) we'd like to buy an OEC diamond. As of now, I'd just like to have something beautiful that I love in my setting. The forever aspect doesn't bother me terribly, simply because Beth is always so upfront and honest and the moment I brought up the coating thing with her she said exactly what you did, the stone is warrantied and should anything ever happen, they will take care of me. I trust that 100%. I think that my current OEC is the prettiest in terms of pretty much everything except.....that rainbow effect. There has been a few times that I was in the store and it just blinged off this rainbow effect and literally everyone (the person next to me, my hubby and the cashier) all stared at my ring like...huh? I just thought that was normal. But here is what I can do, Beth was SO supportive of my desire to possibly change out the stone. What I can do is just have her do that so I can see what I think about it and place my current OEC in a pendant because while it shines off rainbows like crazy, I love this OEC and that's that So many decisions.

You have a real situation on your hands, my friend!
I actually like the facet pattern and culet a bit better in your current FB moissy, but the amora does look more diamond like to me, and it is also whiter and brighter, and forever.
IMHO, I would keep the Amora of these reasons, and most particularly because the Amora had less of that gray color in the middle, which is indicative, in my experience, of the serenity coating. I would put it (coated OEC) in a pendant and love both of them!
