There is a chance it could be affected by high levels of heat. However, it's the same process as the blue's, pink's and other fancy colored moissanite =)

OMG! I learned something new today, or at least I think I have. So colored moissanites, such as blue, pink, yellow and green are coated? I don't know what I thought about the colored stones. I guess I thought, well, I don't know what I thought. I guess I thought it was some process to color them from the core out. Don't know where I got that from-perhaps from colored czs-I don't know, but I guess that's what I'm thinking. So does one have to be careful cleaning colored moissanites? I'm reading comments about how beautiful colored moissanites are, and I was sort of leaning towards buying a colored one as opposed to a clear one, but, say for instance, you take it to get steam cleaned, the coating will start to come off? INFORM ME!!! I WANT TO LEARN ABOUT ALL THIS STUFF!! TEACH ME!!!!

The stones can still withstand a lot. The high level of heat the btrflai was talking about is 1020F...which is higher than even a diamond could take. If you have a coloured stone, just make sure that 1- they don't use heat on your stone 2- that they know it is a coated stone. If they seem uncomfortable with that, find someone who isn't, who has experience with coated stones. They can still be steamed to be cleaned, or go in an ultrasonic (although I don't put any of my rings in ultra sonics, for fear of losing stones).

So, someone mentioned that I should come back here and share my own "thoughts" on the difference between the serenity coated OEC and Amora OEC, after having the Amora in my setting for a couple of days.

Well, here goes. Stats: Both OEC's are 7.5mm. One is enhanced via serenity lab coating (large culet) and the other is an Amora OEC (small culet).

The Serenity Coated OEC is absolutely breathtaking and, IMO, very similar to that of an antique OEC. It's got fire and brilliance like I've never seen before in ANY stone. The large culet is my favorite and not exactly "large". I like to say it's easily detected wink Because it's not large in the sense that it's overwhelming in the stone, it just adds this extra kick and beauty. I see grey in the large culet OEC that I do not see in the Amora, when set. That last part about "when set" is extremely important. I feel that my setting seems to make the large culet OEC appear dark. It does not have the same affect on the Amora when set. With the large culet OEC not set at this time, there is absolutely no grey.

The Amora is so diamond like it's crazy! My boss, co-workers, people on the street, etc have all commented on what a beautiful diamond I have wink Heeheehee The Amora culet is much smaller than the first batch of OEC's culet. The stone is white, very white but not too white. It also has a ton of fire and brilliance, just not as much as the serenity coated OEC, IMO. I feel that the Amora OEC is a beautiful stone. The "I" color is perfect, for me.

All in all, I will be 100% honest and say that the serenity coated OEC is my favorite. Hands down. However, the Amora seems to be the best fit for my setting. It compliments it very well. It looks almost identical to my friends new Tiffany yet mine has the extra fire, that lovely open culet and the intricate faceting that we all know and most love in the OEC's smile

I love my original OEC so much and would never dream of parting with it. So for now, I will take KatNewby up on her offer and ask for advice and suggestions on a pendant for my OEC. It would be MUCH appreciated =)

ETA: For those that have not followed this thread from the beginning. My avatar pic has my original large culet OEC set.

Thanks so much for sharing your take on it btrflai. It is so nice to read others opinions since we cant't compare all of them in person. I am so glad you like the Amora and it looks so good in your setting IMO it looks much brighter in your setting.

I vote a bezel set. I just love the modern look with an old world twist. When I get my ring back I'll be sure to post pics as its a bezel set oec. smile

Thanks, Jess! I cannot thank you enough for the fantastic deal on this Amora and it truly does make me a very happy woman =) You are so gracious and kind!

MissKK, I LOVE the bezel set idea! "The Jeweler" suggested the same thing and said he just loves bezel settings A LOT!

I can't wait to see your Bezel set OEC!! smile

My Dad told me the other day that he purchased a pendant for me at an antique auction. I'm DYING to see it but he says I can't until my B-day in late May.
