Just got home from dinner with "the jeweler" smile we've dubbed him that now.

First things first, he always deals with diamonds but says he's had a love for moissanite for many years. He says he never carried it simply because he found that some clients worried whether or not he'd give them the real diamond they purchased or a moissanite since he had them in stock. He said he got tired of having to explain to people that of course he wouldn't swap out a stone so, he went strictly to diamonds only again.

He loved both OEC's but said he strongly preferred the Amora OEC. He said he felt it was easily passable as a diamond OEC and looked much better to his trained eye in the Tiffany's setting.

He said he felt my current OEC screamed "I'm not a diamond so what am I then". He said the rainbow affect was too overbearing (for his liking) in my current moissy.

I love the rainbow affect and he said some people really prefer it but if I wanted a stone that made it difficult to tell if it was a diamond or not, then the Amora was the way to go.

He's setting the Amora OEC in the setting and said he has no issues resetting it if I decide I want the old OEC back.

His favorite..... My big blue moissy! He said he simply couldn't get over the brilliance and beautiful shade of light blue. He even said that in the 40 years he's been selling and making jewelry, he''s never seen a blue stone of any sort that he liked as much as the blue moissy smile

He was very impressed by DK's Blue Belle as well wink

All in all, I did like the way the Amora looked in my setting. Once it is set, I will post pics.

I can't believe I didn't think of Dennis aka "the jeweler" before today. He's not only a good friend but a very talented man.

I wonder if I can have the big culet OEC peachy pinked someday if I end up keeping the Amora in my setting?! That would rock!!

Great update, btrflai. It's always helpful to hear what jewelers think about moissys, Ashas, sims. Check in the column for the Amora and the blue moissy!

Also never thought about the stone swapping thing from the perspective if the jeweler. It's too bad for him since he loves moissies. You are so lucky to have such an open-minded and honest jeweler.

In light of his comments, will you still set the moissy in a pendant?

That is awesome what the jeweler had to say!

I think the decision to stick with the Amora make even more sense now, given that you don't want it to be obvious that you don't own a diamond. I feel the same way. I love moissy, and don't mind saying that my e-ring will be a moissy, but I don't want it to necessarily be something that screams "I'm not a diamond, what am I?" Because some people you just don't want to know things like this!

Good luck finding a kick butt pendant! If you need help looking, I can think of a few ladies, including myselfff, that would LOVE to help you find something perfect! smile

MrsGotRocks - Yes! =) I will absolutely set the large culet OEC into a pendant. I'm going to give it a bit, as you smart ladies suggested, and be sure I want to keep the Amora in my setting.

Once I am 100%, I will work on getting my original OEC into a pendant.

I really LOVE that OEC, coating or not, rainbow and all. It's just a beautiful, beautiful stone. I've grown quite attached smile

Kat, I will definitely ask for the help of you gals! You all have such great taste!

They are both beautiful. I can see why it would be hard to decide. I think wearing the Amora in your setting for a while is the best way to know which one you prefer. I can't wait to see pictures of the Amora in your setting.

OH! Almost forgot to mention that The Jeweler LOVED my Berricle band. He couldn't seem to get enough of it =)

I said I wanted him to make me one with diamonds someday. He said, "WHY?! It looks fantastic just the way it is."

VERY COOL!

So, if you've been wanting a Berricle but weren't too sure....take the plunge! =)

I look forward to hearing your own "thoughts" after a few days with the Amora in your setting.

I am still excited to be going without the Amora as I really do want a moissanite, rather than a diamond-looking moissanite. I actually like when people ask me questions or point out things as "different" and quite frankly I don't really care what they think if they don't like it...ha ha!

After all, I wear Vibram Five Fingers 95% of the time, so I am pretty used to the looks and questions (though there are less of them now that they are more common!).

I just received my ring at work! My friend Dennis was so kind as to drop it off to me. AWESOME!

At this point, I feel that the Amora is the best fit for my Tiffany's setting. I feel that it is a mix between modern (the whiteness of stone) and antique (the OEC factor).

I like that the Amora also matches my eternity bands a bit better than the original OEC.

The large culet OEC has a bit of a grey tint to it that I do not see in the Amora stone and for my setting, I prefer the Amora stone.

Don't get me wrong, my large culet OEC will be going into a beautiful pendant as I absolutely LOVE her! I can't express enough how much I just love the large culet on my original OEC and it's unique color.

Here's some pics and video with the Amora OEC:
