When choosing a fancy shape like the marquise or pear, it's wise to find a head first, and then order the stone so you don't have to do a custom head. wink

Unfortunately, when I got my marquise, I didn't have the option of buying the head first. My bench jeweler went above and beyond in setting my stone for me. Mine isn't a "perfect" 2:1 marquise either and that is one thing I really love about it.

Gemcat: is that a diamond? It's got such beautiful fire!

I love both your rings. I think marquise & pears are so under-rated, wish we could see more of them love

DA: Your ring is divine and I can't even see a bowtie. Is it a specialty/barion cut marquise? It's such a shame the RLY rough is gone for good cry

DA, I don't want to hijack your thread. Ladies, here is a link to the thread I started after I bought my marquise.

Thanks Gemcat!

DA, do you find it easy to wear? I seem to recall that you have a lovely round in a roseco cathedral...do you notice a difference in wearability?

I'm only asking because I seem to catch my pear now and again and wonder if it's me that's a klutz or if that's just the reality of wearing a stone with a point.

I still LOVE the fancy shapes!

I wear my Vatche Grace on a daily basis, but when I want a little more bling I wear the marquise. I don't really find that it gets knocked around, but if I wear a loose knit sweater it does get caught if I'm not careful. That's just the nature of pointy stones, which is why I advise using V-tip settings any time you've got a point.

It definitely does not discourage me from wearing it!

It wouldn't me either! It's extra fabulous and you must feel absolutely regal wearing it.
