In case anyone has/does have the same issue: I thought about ways i could resolve it (transferring money to my paypal usa account from my other paypal account paying with that, prepaid american debit cards etc..), and ended up coming finding a solution!

First, i set up a pay pal account with my american address, then i linked my visa debit from my other country - while my credit card was not allowed to be linked to 'an international account' it seems debit cards can be - success!

So for now it looks like I have a way to purchase the centerpiece for my big proposal. Now I just need the stone to come back into inventory after someone beat me to the punch yesterday!

In this same vein, what if we have only US-based (US billing-addressed) credit cards, but want to get something shipped to Canada or Mexico? Does BTD allow/accept that?

I think yes, because Less knows that a lot of people have this planned, and hasn't said it won't work.
