A friend of mine was having her IL's for Thanksgiving for the first time. She called me around 10am Thanksgiving morning to ask how long she should roast her turkey.
"How much does it weigh?"
"Well I don't know, let me get it out of the freezer and check."

This same friend had moved to the area a year or so before we did. They were having a hard time meeting people so she answered an ad in the paper for a couple looking for another couple to be 'friends'. Imagine her husbands surprise when he got home and she told him what she had done!! LOL..she was a dangerous combination of naive and dim.

OMGoodness. I almost peed my pants laughing at that poor woman trying to figure out MPH!!

Oh my dear, that's not the half of it!!!!

I've been asked if I had lions, tigers and elephants in my backyard. And if that's not ludicrous enough, said person had no idea that there are no tigers in Africa!

Do we have cars in Africa, or do we still use ox wagons? Not sure if this guys was really being serious, but the questions that followed seemed to show that he was. Did I have a regular house, or did I live in a mud hut? Do I believe in Western medicine, or do I prefer the witchdoctor?

One lady at the checkout of a grocery store refused to believe I was from Africa as I'm white, and she was convinced that there are no whites in Africa.

I've been asked if we also had turkey on Thanksgiving. (This one always gets me!!!)

This one you'll all love: "Gold and diamonds come from South Africa, do you find them lying on the sides of the street and stuff?!?!"

........ and then people wonder why I homeschool!

This woman cannot explain the meaning of MPH, miles-per-hour.
