If I think long enough, I could come up with thousands. Here's two that came to mind first.

Me to a friend who has a lot of pen pals: Did you bake cookies for your mail man for Xmas?

Friend: actually, it's a lady.

Me: Oh. Then, did you bake cookies for your female man for Xmas?

another one, between my friend and her fiance:

Boy: when is the space shuttle scheduled to launch?

Girl: Tomorrow at 9pm Eastern.

Boy: are they waiting until that time because that is when we will be pointed toward space?

LOL! D-fence... I prolly would have stumbled on that one, too.

This is kinda more a "what dumb things people (aka me) believed": I was/am not a big sports fan. My boyfriend at the time, years ago when I was a young 'un, told me that in hockey, "icing the puck" is when the puck gets a big coat of ice built up on it, so that's why the referees always pick it up and put a new one down.

He and his friends also told me that in US football, sacking the QB is called that because the QB gets hit in "the package" --- and proceeded to point out how, when sacked the QB always curls into a ball/fetal position because he's been kicked or hit in the boy-parts.

Yeah, I *did* believe them. I tended to trust people I liked... grin tongue

Okay, the deer / elk thing? And the reverse polarity between Canada and the USA? Oooooh, I don't know that I could have kept a straight face!

This thread was so much fun I decided to bring it back to life. smile

For April Fool's Day DD got 81 signatures to end women's suffrage. Signatures included mostly female students, a few female teachers, one female guidance counselor (who suggested DD take further action by meeting with the mayor of our town to see if she would declare a proclamation to end women's suffrage!!!!) and a few male students. Some of the students figured it out and signed anyway because they figured the rest of the women who signed didn't deserve the right to vote. LOL She didn't video tape but some of the things people said were VERY funny.

So last year she got 88 people to sign banning water. This year 81 people signed to end the vote for women. Do you think they will fall for something next year? LOL

And now, a few dumb celebrity quotes (because I'm bored and didn't have anything else to do this evening)

Quote:
«I think gay marriage is something that should be between a man and a woman»

- Arnold Schwarzenegger

Quote:
«Whenever I watch TV and see those poor starving kids all over the world, I can't help but cry. I mean I'd love to be skinny like that but not with all those flies and death and stuff.»

- Mariah Carey

Quote:
I'm not anorexic. I'm from Texas. Are there people from Texas that are anorexic? I've never heard of one. And that includes me.»
— Jessica Simpson

Quote:
Brooke Shields: "Smoking kills. If you're killed, you've lost a very important part of your life."

And lastly, just this week I was was watching Fox news in the morning and Jenny Garth was doing the weather for some reason. So she looks at the radar map and read across the top of the screen that it was displaying the weather from the past 6 hours. She asked the guy the other weather guy (don't know his name...tall, blond hair) why they were showing the weather that had already happened. She then stated that what people really wanted to see was what was GOING to happen. Why didn't they show THAT map.

I almost dropped my tea mug from laughing so hard. Really. I can't believe anyone listens to anyone in Hollywood!!

MG, these are great!

This one was epic. In 2007, Miss Teen SC answers a question and well, became a viral sensation. I felt a little bad for her after the fact as she was on national TV, a young kid, and perhaps nervous. Nonetheless, it was entertaining.

You can skip to her answer at 45 seconds

My two fave celeb dumb quotes are from:

Jason Kidd, basketball player upon joining the Dallas Mavericks, "I will turn this team around 360 degrees."

B-lister Tara Reid, “I make Jessica Simpson look like a rock scientist.”
Did she mean to say rocket scientist or did she mean geologist?

...i dunno, that makes sense to me. i don't care about the weather that's already happened. it happened. i saw it (or slept through it).... i only look at weather reports to see what's going to happen.
