OK, it's 9:00 p.m. here. Their anniversary dinner must be over, don't you think? Why hasn't The Girl called me squealing yet??????

I was kind of expecting her to run to the bathroom at dinner and secretly call me from there really quick, then call me to talk for real tomorrow.

I'm starting to think I won't hear from her until tomorrow because she's doing the right thing and giving her stupid husband all of her attention.

Boys sure know how to gum up the works, don't they?

YAY!!! SHE LOVES IT!!! I just got a call and was squealing like a little girl.

They relaxed over dinner and then had dessert and took their time, then there was no cell phone on the drive home because they'd left them home for a distraction-free dinner. Yaddah-yaddah-yaddah............

She loooooves the setting, loooooves that The Boy stepped out of his comfort zone and designed it himself, loooooves the Amora, and doesn't think the rubies are too pink (this was my fear) but will know for sure about that in the daylight tomorrow.

She's coming from a low quality 1/5 carat diamond, so you can imagine what looking at a 1 carat Amora is doing to her now. She said over and over again, "It's HUGE! I can't stop staring at it! Are you sure I'll get used to how huge it is? I can't stop staring at it!"

Oh, and she was completely surprised and hadn't suspected at all that The Boy was up to something or that I was involved. This was so totally worth all the pain it took to get to this moment.

And then there is this other little funny...

Like most couples, these two each have their own mad money funds where they are saving up for their dreams. Their budget is perpetually tight and saving is a very slow process. The Girl dreams of Hawaii some day and The Boy dreams of a Harley some day. This ring came out of the Harley fund and that wasn't so easy for him.

So I couldn't resist. I got him this pin with rhinestones in it and put a note on it that said, "Because you deserve a little bling, too, to tide you over until you can replenish your fund." He followed my instructions and didn't open it until after the ring had been presented, and they both got a big laugh out of it.
