FI-to-be and I are putting the final touches on a custom ring with a jewelry maker in the city... however, I'm *almost* positive I want an asha ACC, but now i can't decide what center stone size!

There WILL be a halo, which makes me want the smaller stone, but I'm dreadfully afraid of shrinkage. Which do you think?

Excuse the lack of manicure... I broke a nail and now I'm patiently waiting for them to grow out again, sigh.
Which size?

Voted 7.5mm because of the halo. If a were solitaire type, I would've said 8mm.

2nd that. I think with a halo the 7.5 will be perfect.

Either size with a halo would be amazing... I voted an 8mm just to keep you at ease if you think there would be no worries of shrinkage with that extra .5 of a mm....

same as above. But it also depends on the size of the halo. Are you halo stones less than 1mm each? If so the 8mm would get my vote, but if they are 1mm each or larger, the 7.5 will be stunning.

I voted for 7.5, with a halo that seems quite large enough.

Hahahahahahaha!!

I'm sorry, I couldn't help myself.

I actually voted for the 7.5mm as well. With a halo that seems, ummm, quite large enough. smile

Yes details on the halo please. When I first looked at the picture I thought the 8mm but if the halo will make the 7.5 look like the 8 or larger then I would go with the 7.5mm.
I am right in the middle of the same project. Halo with a cushion cut stone. I just received the Cartier 7.5mm cut stone yesterday. I purposely went smaller than my e-ring right now because 1) the halo and 2) my last e-ring was not believable I thought.

I love the look of the 7.5mm, but if you are already thinking of shrinkage, you might as well kick it up a knotch! (says the girl who started out reluctantly wanting a 2ct, and then almost bought a 4ct before finally settling on a 3ct wink )

The more finger coverage, the better shrinkage security!
