Ladies, while the loss of a sparkly is a terrible thing, and we all feel for Kanga, this thread is heading down "moral support" road.

I was in no way trying to be morally supportive in asking if the ring made it back to the tea cup or by suggesting a metal detector. I thought my posts most practical. I do not understand why it is OK to be morally supportive while gushing over a member's new ring and not be morally supportive by expressing empathy and well wishes when a member is trying to FIND that same ring. If we can't say "Oh no Kanga, I am sorry your ring is lost, I hope you find it soon!! Chin up Sweetie." then perhaps "Wear it in health and happiness" should be banned as it is clearly expressing moral support...??

i'm puzzled as well. i didn't think kanga was asking for moral support; she was just venting that she lost her ring. as jewelry lovers we ALL know what that feels like. i thought the suggestions were good, especially the metal detector. i don't believe she was asking for moral support... however that's the direction the thread was headed, due to the kindheartedness of so many of our members. so rather than risk it getting derailed... how's about those ring holder necklaces, hunh? that's handy!

Yeah, and how strong are the locks on them? I love the idea, but I can just see myself feeling all secure and then looking down to see my ring gone and a broken clasp or something.

i don't believe she was asking for moral support... however that's the direction the thread was headed, due to the kindheartedness of so many of our members. +1 Most of the posts are good advice and no-one intentionally turned it into moral support, that is why it was not locked. However some posts were decidedly "thoughts and prayers" type posts and that could head down the moral support direction. We thought it best to give everyone a heads up to prevent locking up a thread which is obviously very popular.
