Waiting for the Amora Gem : A Saga

Every week I go through three emotional phases as I find a ring for my anniversary. It starts on Friday, fresh with new hope from the Amora Gem update. I am energized and justified in waiting. I keep telling myself, "It's only a year or so of wait, it's not that big of a deal."
All throughout Saturday and Sunday, I meet with family and when they ask for a ring, my resolution to wait for the Amora wavers. This is the second phase, the doubt phase. The phase where I reasoned to myself, "I could get an Asha and replace it later."
By Monday, my defenses have been breached! I am so close to clicking that "Buy" button at BTD for the Asscher Asha 7.5mm. But a force of deeper will stops me. And in the end, I could not spend $$ on a ring that I would need to replace again. I guess I'm really thrifty. And so I gather up the remnants of my limited supply of patience.
This goes from then on until Thursday. Thursday night, the hopes for the Amora Gem is renewed. And with this new sense of relief, I hold my breath in hopes of Friday good news.
This is the emotional roller coaster of waiting for the Amora Gem. Anyone else feel the same?

The Amora is a STUNNER for sure and I WANT ONE. I owe myself a gift for a huge surgery I recently had and was going to use an Asha until I read abt the AMORA. O.M.G! So now the new self-gift will be awaiting an Amora. So beautiful. I can't wait.

Just saying... I had this same conflict a month ago. Everybody on here really helped convince me that the wait isn't worth it. I'm currently getting a ring designed/made by DK and even this past 2 weeks has TICKED by at a snail's pace. If I had to wait an entire year?? *shudder*
My advice: the Asha is a great placeholder. A year is a LONG time to wait for the Amora Gem, and even then, a year isn't a guarantee.
=] Agreed. Honestly I think it is losing sight of the big picture to put off an engagement that you both want for a rock that may or may not be available in 1-3 years. Or longer if you are hoping for something that is not in the first shapes being offered! Get a placeholder, or a different stone you love, and live on. As for waiting in general, it is best to assume it is going to be a while yet and be pleasantly surprised if it does happen sooner. This is NOT a quick process! Sometimes

I'm with ya! I'm getting my ring designed by DK and putting a Chris CZ in it until the Amora is available. That way, I can live with the stone at that size w/o the plunking of a lot of cash ... and I haven't put out hundreds of $$ on a stone I know I want to replace. I have no problem telling everyone that *this* is a CZ until I find THE stone I'm looking for. I feel so posh thinking that I can "hunt" for THE stone. And I've looked around at the 2nd hand natural diamond market... and I've been tempted... I ride that crazy roller coaster too - and it is nice that there isn't something more dramatic and "real" to take up that time in my head.

Quick question? Sorry if this is posted elsewhere but...what is the difference between the Amora Gem and Amora Moissanite? In a 'quick' scan of Less' info I get that it is a crystal and they are waiting for patents to expire BUT is there a difference if you placed the 2 side by side? Tx, all! Just want to add that I drooled over the Amore, Asha, and diamond pics in the next post. Would like to see a comparison, and clear up the 'Gem' vs "Moiss" confusion.

The Gem's native substance is grown to a color of "F" where as the amora moissy is well, first a moissy that is "enhanced" to a higher color grade. It depends on the stone / cut / etc. what it will end up being. The OECs that I have been looking at, as Amora Moissy will end up being J's I believe. The Gem *should* be an F. SO the short of it is, the Gem should be whiter.
