Agree with E!! A GF diet for my daughter saw her gain, and me lose. I also cook with healthy fats, like avocado oil and coconut oil, and both of those have put lbs on her, but taken then off me. smile And I still use butter sometimes; I like to use things with flavour. We also avoid sugar...because I just think it has no benefit for any of us. My DD was also FTT and now hovers between the 15%-20%. It keeps increasing though, just slowly. She was diagnosed last year with celiac`s so it is a process. But she was 17lbs at 18months old, and now she is 27(!!!!!)lbs and 28 months. smile

I noticed you said you cut out red meat. I think it is totally fine, whatever you like. But if you still want to eat beef sometimes, consider grass fed maybe. It is full of healthy omegas and is actually a very digestable meat for humans. We need protein to grow and lose, and chicken can get boring. I don`t know what is avaiable near you, but we live in the country, so I have been able to find grass fed beef and free range chicken and pork for us, and it tastes great and I feel so much better about eating and feeding meat to my family.

Yup, beef is my friend, as is lamb when I'm actively trying to lose.

And to the bolded. I remember when you were looking for answers and I just LOVE seeing this news!

Thanks E! Her progress has been tremendous!! She is like a different kid and I can't believe she is nearing 30lbs. She will probably hit 30 lbs before 3 yrs, and that shocks me as we were so behind in weight less than 1 year ago.

It has taught me so much about food and illness and I am a better mother for it. I considered myself a healthy eater, and thought I provided such good options for my child, but my lack of knowledge was actually hurting my child and I had a lot to learn. Food and nutrition are very complex and what works for one is not guaranteed to work for another. Sometimes we have to try something different and really change our conceptions of food/nutrition/health. You were VERY helpful to me though E!! I know I have said it before, but thank you. love

Beef is certainly NOT my friend. I can stand it in small amounts without getting sick but I have noticed that when I am eating it too often is when I start to have GI issues. (my sister does the grocery shopping as her and my mother are into the couponing thing and I had to tell her she needed to start making an effort to buy a variety of meats because I couldn't handle beef at every dinner. She is a very picky meat eater {nothing on the bone, no dark meat, can't handle raw chicken or pork} and so she tends to end up with lots of BEEF).

I have come up with a reward system for my weight loss. I get to get something I really want when I reach certain goals, i.e. a professional dye job, new wardrobe, and when I reach my goal weight, a new moissy (or Asha) pretty!
