Well, to be honest, if I compare the pictures of the original Lily by Jbeg at with the BTD user's version of it at it DOES look like DK did try to make some changes to it so it wasn't an exact replica. What you're seeing is size and scale due to a different center stone shape and size. The essential design elements are the same, not to mention that the thread makes it very clear that DK was asked to copy our Lily ring and he did so. One poster even went so far as to say that it looks identical to ours and she would never know the difference. Every Lily we've made has looked slightly different from the original due to the different center stone - it's still the same design.

there is a level of professionalism and professional courtesy that was overlooked Totally agree with Jcent I am so very sorry if I will ruffle feathers too, but how could you say and agree when you sell 100% copied/inspired rings? The legacy for example is the exact same....to the "t" I will defend DK with nails and teeth, because he was an amazing person to deal with and I feel that single picking him as the ONE copying is a bit much. I'm out now!!!!

braziliangirl, how do you define inspired by? My ring is inspired by the Tiffany Legacy, for example, same idea, the only thing I changed was the gallery.

I've always considered "inspired" a form of copying myself. Even if you make slight alterations to a design that doesn't make it your unique design. I don't consider the picture of the Mona Lisa with a cat face instead of hers "original." Art yeah ok but not original. I think if you are going to advertise your business online or anywhere, even just wearing something like a ring around people will copy it. I don't know, I'm sorry you are offended that your design was copied but I'm sure DK isn't the first or the last who will copy JBEG designs. I don't think its right to make exact copies with out first asking but I also don't think its right to make alterations with out asking the artist first either. I've seen several pieces by many different vendors board or otherwise of designer inspired rings and you can tell immediately whos work they were "borrowing." Anyway I have mixed feelings about this subject, as you can tell I'm sure. I feel sorry for everyone all around. those who love JBEG but either couldn't afford it back in the day or who will now never get to own anything JBEG. I just want everyone to own the ring of their dreams no matter who makes it.

DK's replica of our Lily incorporates zero design changes. It's exact in every element. Is it a copy or inspired-by? back to subject I mentioned before.. not copyrighted, many many many out there doing the same thing, etc etc etc. It IS upsetting, but inevitable

Since I have been trying to have the Gabbie made for like a week without getting any sort of response, I don't want to ruffle feathers.
However, doesn't it seems a little crappy that the designs are getting discontinued but you don't want them to be copied in the future? Kat, I've figured out who you are and searched my inbox. You emailed me on Saturday letting me know you are ready to proceed. Our response time for settings is 24-48 business hours and I was planning to reply to you today. The only other email I have from you prior to Saturday is from January. Can you please forward me any other emails you've sent during the week you've been trying to reach us so that I can investigate? Because I didn't receive anything from you before the day before yesterday.

DK's replica of our Lily incorporates zero design changes. It's exact in every element. Is it a copy or inspired-by? Sorry if I implied that DK's ring wasn't an exact copy, honestly I have no idea, the DK pic isn't very good and idk I guess my eyes are bad because to me it doesn't look as delicate, the same YES. I think I tried to say that in my OR. I was just trying to add to the discussion about knock offs and how I feel about "inspired" rings. eek, I'm sorry I said anything now.
