So that's part of the reason people liked Kate- even though she's a 'commoner' William loves her and didn't just marry someone of the seen-to-be-correct social class.

I agree! And you are right. I probably should not have used the word "common" when referring to the both of them together. Yes, Kate is a true commoner. Even though Diana was a Lady, the daughter of an Earl, I meant "common" as in not considered polished enough, not up to snuff by the royal family. I wonder why? Maybe she wasn't hearty enough, or the outdoorsy horse and hunting type enough for them. Perhaps it takes years for someone marrying into the royal family to be accepted.

I was quickly skating through this thread and this caught my eye. My best friend's cousin spent $40K on the flowers for her wedding. Yeah....

I was going to say! I recently help plan a wedding and it was honestly a brutal realization of how much one day could significantly dent one's bank account. If I could have a wedding, I would do a simple chic DIY wedding. ^_^ But that's a personal choice.

I can't imagine having the money available to spend $40,000 on flowers! I remember thinking my sister in law was INSANE for spending $4,000 on her flowers hahaha. My first wedding cost about $5,000 and it was (in my eyes) FABULOUS...I want to be invited to that wedding! I bet the wine was divine wink

My flowers cost under $100 as they screwed up the order and only delivered my bouquet (and toss bouquet which I was not having a toss for anyway!). I was not even upset, I just thought "money saved!" and carried on with the day. The resort got together some branches and such to spruce up the ceremony room a bit more.

ETA: it figures that the one of two areas I was solely responsible for (flowers and dress, husband did all the rest of the planning) got messed up...ha ha!
