Is Amora really worth the extra money? I feel like moissys are already super sparkly....but im wondering if the Amora is worth the extra money....is it that much more sparkly?

It is the same level of sparkle, the Amora enhancement only improves the color, so if you care about having a whiter stone, then get the Amora. If you like them warm, go with regular Moissy.

The amora doesn't have any effect on the "sparkle" of the stone, it just tones down on the inherent green of moissanite, and makes the stone whiter. I think if you are looking to own a white stone, the amora is definitely worth the money, but if you don't mind owning something that is a little more warm (like if you are going to be buying an antique setting) then without the amora treatment might be fine if the possibility of a little green doesn't scare you.

I own a 9mm OEC amora moissanite, and I love it and wouldn't have wanted it to be any more yellow, so it was the right choice for me.

I think it depends.
I chose the Amora moissanite because while I don't mind some warmth I didn't want to see any green.
Also I was getting a 7.5mm stone. In smaller stones the green undertones are not as noticeable-but some people are still color sensitive.

An Amora moissy won't sparkle any more than a regular one but the color should be improved.

I have an untreated Moissy and an Amora treated, both 7.5mm rounds. My untreated seems to be a really white one in comparison to others I've seen.

My two stones look the same in all lighting except for overcast weather -- then the untreated shows that murky greenish undertone that I call "the snotcast," but the Amora just glows its white self with whiteness. I live in area where I had to deal with the snotcast about 15% of the time, and I feel that the Amora enhancement was well worth it to move me to no snot at all.

hmmm im wondering because we actually ordered a 2.5 carat which we ended up returning because we changed our mind on size, i think we are going to go with the 1.5-2 carat now. anyways, the 2.5 carat looked really white/clear to me, i didnt see any green or yellow at all really.... but i only had it one day and it wasnt set in any sort of ring. id be solitaire band with side stones... i wonder if it will be yellow/green. we just dont want to spend another $2-300 if the original moissy will look good...hmmmmmmmmmm

If it will help, here's a link to photos I took of my two 7.5mm stones in various lighting.

Don't be thrown by the use of the term Mira in that thread. I don't know if you've been lurking here long enough to know that when Amora first hit the market, it was called Mira. There was a legal conflict with the name and it was changed, but the stone treatment was not.

I have a 2ct unenhanced OEC. It is not yellow but it is warm. I do not have a colour grade for you but maybe an L or M?

The majority of the time it just looks white. A warm white, but white. Even in overcast and rainy weather, of which we have had an unusual amount last week, it faces up a steely white (I cannot see side of my stone). In my car in that same overcast weather I see the L/M side of my stone more as it has less light to reflect. The yellow gold bezel plays this up too, I imagine. To me it does not look green, just a very very warm buttery-steely colour that is hard to describe. I actually *love* seeing this and this environment and the overcast outdoors (which really emphasizes the faceting for me) are some of my favourite environments for it so far.

I also own some smaller unenhanced stones and they perform similarly.

Amora is not worth it *to me* but I would have said this if it was free. I wanted a stone in the K-N range and love the personality of the stone or its "moodiness". Others dislike this or do find green or yellow casts they do not like or want a whiter stone and so Amora is worth it to them. Indeed, I know I am one of a minority when it comes to whether to
Amora around these parts it seems!

Amora has zippo to do with sparkle though!

If you go to my recent thread in the Customer Gallery I have pictures and video of it in various light conditions, including in overcast & rainy weather.

i think after seeing those pics (thanks Hadley) that im leaning towards the unenhanced moissy. altho i usually LOVE sparkly, bright thinks (like the more white Amora) i actually found myself liking the unenhanced better with more "character" i almost think the amora looks more "fake" or too white. im surprised cuz i thought for sure id like the amora better. plus idk i doubt i will really examine my ring that much on a daily basis (well maybe at first i will wink ) so i think its probably not worth the extra $350 for mee....

thanks a ton to everyone!

I have a 1.5ct moissanite, unenhanced in a high 14k white gold setting..I love it when the sun is shining..But on cloudy days, indoors, incandecant lighting..It looks DULL,yellowish brown... Not attractive at all!! I am going to replace it with a enhanced moissi. Hoping it stays beautiful in every light smile
